La Liste

It's time to take stock of my fannishness, and lo, it's a bleak outlook. I came burning (okay, it was more like a tiny little flickering flame hungry for wood) into LOTR at the end of 2003, engulfed Lotrips like a bushfire in 2004, ran out of puff (honestly, I just got tired of writing sex scenes... there was a day when I was in the middle of an ( Read more... )

I'm afraid Real Life ran over my fic writing/reading too. There's nothing you can do about it.. when it's gone, it's gone, alas. At least you have other creative outlets. I still have my gardening, but I'm still casting about for something else to fill the void.

Soph, you know I have many words to say on the way we use LJ now versus the way we used LJ in the heady flush days of Orli buttsex. I just wanted to say that I think there's absolutely NOTHING wrong with being "just a blogger", especially when you infuse even your moany whines with humour and delectation. I find the concept of fannish currency quite distateful nowadays, and when people defriend because you're not putting moolah in the kitty I just think, well, see ya and have a nice life. Some people just want to be entertained. It's the ones like y'self that make an effort to reciprocate relationships that are meaningful in the long run, wot?

Anyhow. Hallo chook.

It's hard to let go, isn't it, but you are off on other adventures, and there are still those that follow, for the stuff of your life is better than fiction, thanks for all your personal posts during the year.

So much of your energy this year went to other kinds of writing, and that's cool. You are you and you share yourself so very wonderfully, so do what feels good!

Gadzooks, you wrote loads! Also, I sympathise totally with the fic fandom nostalgia thing. I don't have it but I've had bouts of it. And you can't force a fandom where there ain't none. Lotrips was terribly, terribly special; I think we're all sort of still reeling from that. Nothing will ever be like it. But you know, *hints hints*, you could post orig? Have no fandom: create your own!
