July Meme - answer for 7/12

Apologies for the delay, but I missed the 12th and then yesterday, I had to deal with a power outage and storm damage (nothing serious, but I have a ton of phone calls to make today and the remainder of an epic tree branch to render down into bits).

Anyhow, this entry is for fufaraw, who asked: Can you talk about your garden? With pictures, if possible?

Oh, those are all gorgeous! I would worry about Bruce taking over that corner of the house, though. Spruces get *big*, unless this is a dwarf variety. He is a cute, chubby little specimen now, though! I am *so* impressed with Soupy--long may he wave!

And my goodness, I love the naming of things. I thought I was the only one!

Yup, Bruce is a dwarf variety of spruce. He'll get close to the house, but not too close.

My plants are almost like pets to me (at least, the ones that last more than a season are like pets), so they have to have names!

Lovely yard and a very cute house. I love the spruce. The magnolia is gorgeous in bloom as well as the azalea. It sounds like a very good garden plan. What kind of climate zone are you in? We are in a 4b, I think. I'm glad you didn't have a lot of storm damage. We just finished cleaning up after a storm last week. We have willow and river birch so there were branches down all over. Thanks for posting the pictures.

Bruce the Spruce? You are killing me with the cute. Seriously, I love that you have named your plants, and I'm looking forward to seeing more photos as your longterm plan for the garden progresses.

One day, I will meet Bruce and his yardmates in person! I swear it!
