BoA wasn’t sure how she ended up in such a position; pinned against the refrigerator by two strong hands grasping on both her wrists. For all she knew, she had woke up ten minutes ago with a mild headache she knew was a result from her drinking spree the night before. When she entered the kitchen, she had found her best friend sitting on the chair by the counter, brewing coffee. To say she was surprised was an understatement;  she nearly tripped and fell backwards when she saw him so casually moving around in her kitchen, in her apartment.

“Yunho,” She had said after calming her pounding (why was it pounding anyway?) heart. “What in the world are you doing here?”

Yunho’s reply had been nonchalant. He had shrugged and said; “You were drunk as a skunk last night. Yeonhee called and asked me to take you home.”

And, she had noted; her response had been equally nonchalant as well. “Oh. Okay. It must have been because of the empty stomach, I shouldn’t have drank so much. Ugh. Sorry, and thank you for getting me to bed.”

Yunho had stopped brewing his coffee by then, and he had looked at her warily without saying anything. “Gosh, I must have been so drunk last night, I can barely remember what happened.” She added and walked towards the guest before reaching out for her cup. “Is the coffee done? I think I need to drink a cup,”

“You asked me to kiss you.”

BoA nearly dropped the ceramic ware in her hand. “I…I did…what?”

“You were all over me last night when I carried you into your apartment.”

BoA’s face turned as red as a beetroot as she fumbled (why was she shaking so badly?) to find suitable words to say how sorry she was for her recklessness last night. After a minute of silence, BoA had forced a string of laughter out from her mouth. “Thank goodness it was you, then.”

Slowly, he nodded, his eyes on her with a glint she has never seen before. “Thank goodness it was me?”

“Yeah, because…you’re Yunho and…you would understand that I wasn’t in the best of state last night,” She gulped at how horrible her excuse sounded like. BoA began to wonder why it was so difficult to breathe when suddenly she was yanked back by the person beside her, and the coffee cup she held flew onto the ground in a split second.

“Thank goodness it was me?” He repeated in frustration. “That I would understand?” He added, swinging her around until her back rapped into the refrigerator. The dangerous gleam in his eyes made BoA swallowed her saliva in difficulty. “Yes. No, I mean…er…” BoA found it extremely challenging to think with all the blood roaring in her head.

“What you did last night, you damned near killed me,” Yunho hissed, glaring at the lady and shooting vicious spurts of fire into every cell of her body. “You had no idea how much I had to restrain myself from going second base with you-“

A lump lodged itself onto BoA’s throat as she stared at him wide-eyed, trying to register what he had just told her. Second base? Does that mean…they’ve already ki--Oh my god, she gasped mentally and felt her heart lunging itself up to her throat.

“That’s it,” Yunho muttered and swung her up in his arms easily. “I can’t bear it anymore, I can’t freaking be patient anymore with you. In case you’ve forgotten, I’m a grown man,”

With a jolt of panic, BoA pushed a hand against his chest. “Wait-“

“The hell I will,” His eyes flashed at hers. “You’d better say no, loud and clear and fast, this very moment if you don’t want this, Kwon BoA. And make sure you damn well mean it.”

She felt his heart beat furiously against her palm, and her hands began to tremble. BoA thought she was shaking because of fear, because she was afraid of crossing the line they had inevitably drawn between them. But when their eyes met and none of their gazes wavered, added with the reason she was slowly recalling on her being deliberately wasted last night, she realized that beneath the friendship laid a feeling she was beginning to slowly admit, (she had to, with him looking at her like that, she just had to) -longing.

“I can’t,” She finally breathes out, hearing the rhythm of her heart beat in unison with his. “I wouldn’t mean it.”

Yunho’s face split into a smile in triumph. “I know.”
