Torchwood season 4 will on Starz Channel

Yawn. I liked the aliens-of-the-week (sex aliens, fairies, circus people from the dead, etc). I liked its cheesiness and that it didn't take itself seriously. Apparently I was the only one.

Thanks so much for the interview. I spent the whole of last week downloading season 1,2 and 3 and I'm so hook up with Torchwood. Thanks for your recommendation.

I really enjoyed the show. Jack/Ianto replace my House/Wilson obsession for a while although I knew the sad ending of Ianto in season 3

The ending of Jack/Ianto wasn't the only reason why I disliked season 3. I got the distinct feeling watching it that they were trying to distance themselves from the previous seasons by changing the tone and overall "feel" of the series.

Now it's a "serious" sci-fi show which I find boring. It's a sci-fi MI-5 (or Spooks as it's known in the UK).

Im guessing now its about aliens and stuff etc with jack/gwen <- kind of a boring couple. but jack is still an omnisexual right?

I can't believe how much this has gotten me excited again. And they dodged the bullet that is Fox :D

True :)

I don't even know why Fox was interested in Torchwood (especially when they fucked up Dollhouse).

And pretty much every real sci-fi show in the last few years (yeah, you heard me, Fringe, you're barely sci-fi). And an omnisexual male lead? Yeah...no.

Gotta love a show that has the main character kidnapped and sent back millenia in history, buried alive, unburied and then cryogenically frozen for a century only to be revived an hour or so after he disappears, and then just gloss over that fact and never refer to it again! (of course, I was a bit distracted by the OMG IT's SPIKE ( ... )

I miss Tosh/Owen. I never realized how much I missed tech-savvy/smart female characters until Tosh was gone :(

On another note, his comment about no one really exploring Arthur from the very beginning bla bla bla is total bs.

I agree. Plus the BBC Merlin is sort of doing that now (although Merlin I think is in his early twenties in the series, but I'm not sure).

I've only seen a few episodes of Torchwood, but Children of the Gods blew me away. I have a feeling that's the kind of episode you don't really care for, though, right?

Well, it's just my opinion. I admit I liked Torchwood for its cheesiness (in seasons 1-2). And when I started watching it, I wasn't watching because it was a serious drama. I was watching Torchwood because it was fun (although it definitely had its serious moments).

If other people enjoyed season 3 of Torchwood, that's fine by me. And if people continue to watch season 4, that's great.

That's not to say I don't like serious sci-fi dramas. Dollhouse was one example of a serious sci-fi drama that I absolutely adored. To assume that I don't like quality dramas just because I didn't like Children of the Earth is a bit presumptuous.

I neither said nor implied that you didn't like quality drama. I'm sorry if you got that impression from what I wrote.

To elaborate on what I meant, Children of the Gods is EXTREMELY dark. It's depressing and sad. I wouldn't blame anybody for not caring for it, and I certainly wouldn't assume that they only liked fluff and silly sci-fi. I might not have liked it myself if I was actually a fan of the series, and already formed an attachment to seeing it done in a different style and flavor.
