Regarding the first movement of Tschaikowsky's 4th Symphony:

"Don't sit on that A-flat like a city you have conquered. We have the city surrounded! We are making war! We are knocking on the doors, pounding on them, shouting 'Open the door! Open it!' And then we fall away to pianissimo and we are pleading-- 'Please. Please. Open the door...'"

There is apparently a Facebook group dedicated to this man's ridiculous metaphors. Sometimes they are excellent and poetic, as above. Other times... "And now the gerbil is retreating back into its cage! Let the gerbil retreat!"
