Well, now that most have had a chance to either ruffle or settle their metaphorical feathers, a return to the traditional carnage and mayhem of our little coop is in order, yeah? A riot, perhaps. I don't think we've had a proper one while I've been here. Murder gets so blase after a certain point. Murder in the most familiar sense in any case. Show ( Read more... )

What a terrible plea for a riot. You lack creativity.

I lack sincerity, my dear. If I truly wanted a riot, I wouldn't be broadcasting a plea for one at all.

Then you wish for peace and serenity? For harmony?

Oh, your must say these things to be humorous. I see now.

Neither. Peace and serenity are tedious, harmony short-lived at best.

...Where are you from, exactly?

Good. I'm working damage control on Dr. Lewis. I trust you're aware that the next stage of testing has moved forward?

Calm yourself, Mr. McCullen. You forget, a dose of that amnesia would likely wipe his recollections of our progress and existent plans as well, costing us time as we brought him up to speed. Not to mention the mistrust in us it would cause--as volatile as his personality seems to be, I wouldn't be surprised if he blamed us for his memory loss.

In any case, wishful thinking gets us nowhere. He's shown himself clearly capable of doing something stupid in almost every circumstance. He needs a handler. At the very least, a manager of some kind.

Of course. You know where to find me. I would come to you, but I'm afraid I'm still not feeling quite the thing.

Of course. I'll be there in a moment.

[And, a moment later, there she is. TADA.

She shuts the door behind her.] How are you, overall?

[Irene is seated at her vanity, brushing still-damp hair with a silver-backed brush, wearing a full-length white chemise. She still looks a bit dour. On the tabletop beside her is a half-drunk snifter of brandy]

Well, I'm sore, and I have the nagging sensation that I still smell like gore even after four baths, but given everything, not too poorly. This is healing up nicely.

[She taps at a series of scratches - faded to shallow welts - on her neck]

The Admiral's doing, I suppose. Thank goodness for small favors. How are you? How long have you been back?

I'm glad.

I think. Not giving up doesn't mean, um, goading everyone else into doing so, right?

Not necessarily. Not if it's disadvantageous.

...Right, well. I'm, glad. Like I said.

Um, what sparked this, change of heart?

Zombies. [A pause, and the slightest falter, but her smirk stays firmly in place.] It's the most at home I've felt since being dragged to this place, in point of fact. I suppose it was a reminder, of sorts.
