I would sort of expect any reward granted by an ancient to mean instant death to its receiver. Cthulhu would approve, if approval was worth caring about enough to bother. But, you know as well as any, no such thing could ever be bestowed on a simple undeserving mortal.

To construct is a duty;
to Devour is Divine.

This seems just about the bargain demanded by the ancient, dark things of many horror stories. But those beings cleverly withold the last part, so even their faithful minions have no idea that dark gods are not gods one should ever wish to serve.
