Breakup Blues

Lamorak is, in the best tradition of messy breakups, making his way to the kitchens with the intention of getting roaring drunk.  He's sober for now, though, and might actually welcome some company, depending on who it is.

Aghaghaghagh is approximately Gaheris' reaction, and a muttered, "Hell--"; he attempts to move out of the way, but, having the agility of a thrown brick, ends up smashing his hip against the corner side of the table and doubling up with momentary pain.

He closes his eyes. "Never mind that."

"I swear--" A silence, then, "Do thou know, I regret thee."

"Hm?" He leans back in his chair. "How do you mean?"

"Dost not know why Mordred wants me not near thee?"

"I know you've always been a bit strange, even for an Orkney. But that's all."

A small drink. "I killed my mother while thou wast in her bed."

And as much of him wants to laugh, or rage at the poorness of such a joke...

Gaheris folds his arms on the table and leans. "And then I said it was thou had done it."

And it's all tumbling back now in spurts and longer loops. After a moment, not quite as steady as he'd like: "Why did you not kill me? There was bloodfeud, none would have questioned..."

Softly, "I wasn't angry with thee. I wasn't afraid of thee."

He takes a long, deep drink.

"And they think it will make me mad to speak with thee because it made me mad--" He almost trails off, stirring the alcohol again without drinking. "Nay, I'm well. I am. And it were better thou didst know thou hadst done nothing to me."
