[Date/Rou] tonight we'll make our bed at the bottom of the sea
BECAUSE KB HAS PRIORITIES. Set in an AU of theskytides, where Hijikata decides to follow Masamune after their meeting in Solare and is taken into the Date clan. In here, uh... things happen. Basically. Of the porny sort. Yeah, we're terrible people.
It was a nice, normal night in Sendai. The sky was clear enough for the stars to shine, and the crescent moon was high up in the sky. Everything was pretty much the way it usually was, as it had been for him ever since he came into this little town so many years ago when he was sixteen and still fresh from his days in Solare. Now five years later, somehow it didn't seem that not much had changed - sure, he was older now, much more finely tempered now after having lived (and still constantly trying to live through) Katakura and his many training sessions with his life usually on the line and no longer the rash teenager he used to be, but somehow things never really seemed that different between Date and him.
He really couldn't put it in words, but Hijikata had always respected his... well, his lord. On that day five years ago, he had decided that maybe his place was with Date, and had decided to follow him. In those five years many things had happened, and while they hadn't really fallen apart, they hadn't really gotten all that closer either. Things had radically changed between them when he was to be taken under the Date clan; no longer was Date Masamune his rival then, but his lord. The man he had to obey and listen to no matter what.
...not that I mind, the man thought to himself as he walked along the corridor towards where Date's room was, doing his best to balance the tray of sake and sake cups in his hands. It was just one of those days where Date wanted to drink, and with Katakura busy with something or another (the elder retainer was always busy with something or another, he came to realize quickly) it was up to the guy after him - Hijikata himself - to have the delightful task of accompanying the head of the Oshu clan. It hardly bothered Hijikata at all, and if he had to be honest he was kind of glad to be with Date. Just being with the man who he respected and admired so much was really more than he could ask for.
Arriving at the door, Hijikata took a moment to balance himself and the tray, making sure he wasn't liable to drop it anytime soon as he moved to kneel on the floor properly and announced his arrival. "Masamune-sama."
