Since I don't know your religious viewpoints, I'll be brief. Christmas is a holiday in the winter season meant to spend time with friends and family, and the possible exchange tokens of comradeship or affection could occur. X-mas is a shortened term of the word Christmas created for reasons that really don't interest me much.
