Given all the harsh realities hitting now about Prop8 realizing we have a lot further to go to get people in the mainstream educated, I thought I'd go back to a song that many consider to be ground zero of rock songs about "the closet."   The friends across the river Ray Davies is talking about are of course people like US.  This is a great clip

Ah yes, one of my own favorite tv clips of the Kinks for the very same reason, that being that it's live (and heartfelt) vocals at least.

Also look out for their BEAT ROOM '64 tv clips: ferocious versions of '...Got Me' and 'Got Love If You Want it' with tense dynamics at play, as well as mean-ass Ray harp (!) playing...

On a related note, I was in the dairy department of Publix a couple of days ago, and realized that "Low Budget" was playing overhead - kind of a WTF moment..
