Listening

I'm slowly reading my way through My Utmost For His Highest. It is deep... deep thoughts that challenge me often. Such as this:

Sometimes God puts us through the experience and discipline of darkness to teach us to hear and obey Him. Song birds are taught to sing in the dark, and God puts us into "the shadow of His hand" until we learn to hear Him

hmmmm. I think parts of that are true, but I also disagree with the "don't listen to others--just God" because many times God speaks and guides us through His people. I think we should seek to find out the reason for the darkness.

I don't agree with that part either... God does tell us to seek the counsel of others. It's not a journey that we travel alone. He gave us companionship for a reason, and I think this is one time when we need to seek other people. Of course what God says must be first, but... I do agree. :)
