Notes: this fic is dedicated to
ayumisan

Yayyy! New story~~! ^___^ And only two hours after I updated that other one too...I really did miss my laptop -- all this writing proves it (even if this prologue is pretty short....well, it's a prologue so it's supposed to be, right?) anyways, enjoy you ryokame fans out there!

And like I said above, this is dedicated to
ayumisan     because she is awesome in feeding my ryokame obsession and because she is my fellow ryokame lover~~! She also came up with the title to this fic ^_____^ ilu~~~ ♥

So yeah...enjoy the prologue!

Prologue:

It was a moment that no matter how he wished, it could not be erased or slowed down so that he could try to think - think about how this had happened.

A murmur rippled through the audience gathered here today and he could feel his eyes widen as he stared at the woman standing in front of him, looking out of breath and panicked.

He looked around and thought that maybe he was hearing things, but the same emotions of shock and surprise were reflected on the faces of all those sitting here in front of him.

They were staring at him, as though wondering what he would do.

He felt his heart constrict for a moment, a brief moment when he felt a feeling of pain before numb shock took over again. The object he had been holding in his hand started to fall and he stared at it as if clattered to the ground, watching as it bounced and even rolled around, and yet the shining jewel atop the band did not even shatter.

It should shatter…he thought with a bitter look at it, wishing it would shatter, Then we’d match…

“What did you say?” he asked again, slowly, fixing a piercing gaze at the woman, trying to mask the hurt that no doubt showed in his eyes.

“T- the bride…Kumiko, she’s - she’s gone!” the frantic bridesmaid said, wringing her eyes and looking with wide, bugged out eyes at him.

The shocked murmurs started again.

“She’s gone - where?” he asked slowly.

“She - she left a note!” the bridesmaid said, pulling out a crumpled piece of paper and he grabbed at it, taking it in his hand forcefully and ignored the surprised gasp from the bridesmaid when he took it out of her hands.

To Ryo,

I’m not marrying you - sorry. I have fallen in love with someone else - you met him; he’s the one who saved my life last month. I’m sorry I didn’t tell you earlier and only tell you this now, but I’m running away from our marriage so I can be with him.

We wouldn’t have worked out anyways - you’re too insensitive and sometimes, you’re really selfish. I’m sure one day you’ll find someone who loves you for that, but it won't be me. Not anymore.

Best of luck and good-bye,

Kumiko.

Ryo crumpled up the note in his fist, a hurt and angry feeling overcoming him and he stared out at the people who had come to his wedding and said with a dull voice.

“The wedding’s off - go home”

The sharp words seemed to cut like a knife through the silence and with a mutter, the guests got up and began to leave.

“Damn you” Ryo muttered, ducking his head as the guests left one by one, leaving him alone standing at the altar where this was supposed to be a happy memory.

A happy memory turned into one of his worst.

His heart hurt as he thought about the callous way his fiancée - former fiancée now - had talked about him, about their relationship as though the past few years had not mattered.

He clenched his fists as he tried to hide the soft sob that escaped his lips and he tried to hold back the tears that were prickling at his eyes, the horrible feeling of being left by the one he loved coursing through him like poison in his veins.

And the poison hurt, it hurt a lot…

He knelt down to sit on his knees, looking at the paper through his tears.

The ring that had fallen to the ground had long ago stopped at his feet, hidden under the heel of his feet. As he stood up after a long while, tears of hurt and pain trailing down his face, the ring was crushed under his foot.

Crushed like his heart had been by the woman this ring would have belonged to.

And the man she had left him for on their wedding day.

“Damn you” he whispered, “Damn you for taking her away from me, Kamenashi Kazuya”
