I have not really posted about my spring motorcycle saga - but now that its resolved I can laugh about the situation and invite my friends to enjoy with me. Read on to laugh at/with me, its pretty long though!

You did the troubleshooting much like I would have, given your circumstances. You wouldn't have been able to diagnose the fuse without resolving the battery issue (or using an electrical testing kit).

And it's not uncommon to have to dismantle most of your bike to get at the battery. We bought some inexpensive battery leads that let us plug the charger in with the batteries still in the bikes. It's saved us many headaches.

Oh, and you figured out to use your magnet-necklace, but we have a doo-dad that's a telescoping wand (think like an old TV antenna) with a magnet on the end. Works wonders at retrieving those missing screws.

when I went to buy a new fuse yesterday I also picked up a magnetic telescopic tool. 2.99 and probably much easier to use something stiff rather than a flexible necklace.

I will be looking for this doohickey you mention for the battery leads. it would be more than worth it.

I am not a gear head.

Perhaps you are not an electrician, but you are definitely a gear head. :-)
