For the moment, I'd like to think it's happiness Agree. For me it's the happiness brought about by beautiful prints of good movies, books, comics and and music. I'm awash with all of these right now.
of all your amazing posts...this one is just awesome man...i sorta picturized you looking out of the window whilst driving a rented Renault on the beautiful roads of Cote D' Azur :-)
"...sporadically furnish my spartan life..." - Ultra.
"...those times were 'gooder'..." - I suppose it is the same with everyone - when you are younger you always want to 'become big' soon & when you get there, you regret that you grew up so fast! But I agree, 'those times' were definitely better.
True, I always wanted to be twenty one and all-adult. But I now know that thirteen and my new Atlas Rebel, or ten and cable TV or for that matter, even twenty and stoned suited me just fine ;)
The big ben is rather boring... and london is a pretentious place.
I suggest Paris, its probably more pretentious and the people make no apologies about it, but the city is just so goddamn beautiful and romantic that it makes you romaticize about the one thing that really and true matters... Life! :)
As for the clock that goes gong, I think the glockenspiel in good ol' germany will be the perfect choice. Its got lots of chiming and even an array of figurines dancing around the clock at the stroke of noon. Lengend has it that if you finish a Weiswurst (a fuckin' huge german hot dog) before the final chime then you're in for some good luck. I dunno about you but that sounds like fun to me.
