Did anyone know that today there was an extra second added to the day at 6:59:60PM EST, 11:59:60PM GMT

I thought it was a "leap second". In other words, 00:00:00 immediately went to 00:00:02.

But yes, I knew.

it was a "leap second" but like the leap day adds a day, leap day leaps a second, doesn't make much sence literally, *shrug*
