You've got a great start going, for sure, I like the ratio you've got going for the most part. There's no hard and fast rules, so in general going with your instincts works fairly well. Remember more contrast is going to bring more attention, so bolder lines and/or more contrasting lines for areas of more importance.
One thing I might change from what you've got is the one with the mask(? sorry I don't know characters well D=), I would put a bolder line under the jaw line, to pop the head up off the neck... maybe around the ear lobes, though the intricacy of that shape may not look great with that much of a heavy outline. Would be more personal preference.
Last keep in mind that if you're going to add more values in (shadows), you may want to darken the outlines, too. You probably know that but just in case.
Looking at it more, I also notice that the skin tones you're using are VERY pale, and there's a really high contrast with the hair/accents of the foreground character. With a high-contrast area like that, you're showing a lot of visual importance right there, so you may want to find some way to balance that elsewhere in the image. For example if you want the other character to have an equal visual importance, you can give him some area with a similar amount of contrast... It's something that I could probably show better than explain. =I
Slight variations in in line color can help create depth. Also varying line width within a character to make bits stand out (like on push's ear, it looks flat against the neck, or a slightly thicker line where the hair crosses the eyebrows so they don't meld together.)
hurhur yeah I know Push has the dead skin going on and I look like goth tones. I'm pretty sure I'm going to keep it to the pale side, but I'm still deciding on color swatches. We'll see
I'd appreciate all the tips and tricks I can get :3
