Title:used to be clean
Rating: PG-13
SGB’s comment Ache-y lilt through Snafu’s complicated (or not) head, mostly in a foxhole with Sledge (yesssss!!!)

Author: Augustbird
Title: he says
Rating: PG-13
SGB’s comment  Postwar, in Snafu’s head.  Hurts beautifully.

Title: not quite home
Rating: PG-13
SGB’s comment   Fantastic postwar fic - seems so very realistic

Title: Watching You Sleep, Baby
Rating: PG
SGB’s comment   This is some rare crackfic for Sledge/Snafu, set on Pavuvu.  I’ll just say, Snafu sniffing Sledge’s hair, and then back away.
*** Genre Rarity Award***…as no one writes crack much here in Sledge/Snafu.  That must mean something but I cannot see past my tears over the manpainbeauty of the pairing to tell what’s up with why there is so little crack…oh.

Title: Just Another Day
Rating: R (violence)
SGB’s comment  A well-done war-angst, battlefield-need, non-porn, non-schmoop piece.  I know, right?  That barely makes a lick of sense (:P).  But it's so, so good.  Go read it!

Author: catssaymeow
  Title: Caboose
Rating: PG-13
SGB comment: Train scene drabble you must read.

Author: CanuckChicklette
Title: Happy Birthday, my lover
Rating: Mature
    SGB comment Naughty little drabble…

Author: chargasm
Title: oh for a day in the sun in this town
   Rating: PG
SGB comment: Postwar Sledge POV, Sledge goes to find Snafu.  "“He wants to feel something that isn’t guilt or anger or fear.”

Author: dancing_crows
Waking Up ‘Verse
  Rating: PG
SGB’s comment: Despite how brief these each are, they are fun to read as the author is good at punching in the endings.

Prologue:  "Night" nbsp;   War angst; Sledge dealing with the war and knowing Snafu is good for him

“Waking Up Part 1” nbsp; Snafu POV. An exploration of Snafu’s leaving Sledge sleeping on the train

“Waking Up Part 2” nbsp;Sledge POV.  While on the train home; exploration of what changed for Sledge by being in war.

“Waking Up Part 3” After Snafu gets off the train in New Orleans

Plead Thy Cause  (New Sept 2012:  It's a series!)
Part 1: Thy bruise is incurable, and thy wound is grievous
Part 2 Thou mayest be bound up
    Rating: teen and up
SGB comment Pennies from heaven for ye with a pain kink, or maybe if you just find life numbingly painful and will find something in this for yourself.  I'm pretty sure there is a way this is fun, and there is a way this is not fun.  However you want to read it, know this: this is hardcore foxhole action. **bliss**

If It Takes All Summer eries
1 Fight It Out On This Line (PG) Selected phrases of awesome - "They fought wars on less sleep."   "His Bible is back on base, held together with string and prayer."   "Sledge writes down him thoughts on the war because they’re hard to pin down, now that he’s away from the crushing pressure of waiting t die. He’s trying to capture his feelings about going home with some kind of coherence, so that maybe someday he can show them to Snafu."   I mean, how cute and yet mature is that
2 We Seek No Conquest (Teen and up) ”a job that pays for chow and cigarettes and works the nightmares out of him"
3 There Shall Be None (PG) “And he knows he’s going to go write down this feeling to see if he can exorcise it.”  Seriously, how awesome is it to latch onto Sledge’s writing habit as something emotional for him?  Hits home for what I would guess is the majority of fic writers ‘round here.
4 Follow My Native State “That’s one of the strange things about civilian life; you don’t need to carry all your possessions around with you."
5. Like an Earthquake (PG) “Father looks down at his plate resolutely, not getting involved. Hurt in his own way.”
    6. this space left open in hopeful anticipation of more for this serie
SGB comment (as if what I already said for each chapter wasn't enough blabbering). This seemingly still in-progress (YAY!!!, as of summer 2012) series is a refreshing, perfectly within-character take on the ship.  It’s refreshment comes from the enigma that Snafu is to Sledge.  I admire this approach so much because I am overly quick to jump to “stuck-in-a-miserable-life-threatening-muddy-shithole-for-days-so-they-get-each-other.”  This approach pumps up the angst and is entertaining as hell.  ALSO this story is masterfully written.  Phrasegem after phrasegem.

Title: For those not meant to see
Rating R
SGB’s comment  This is a slim, elegant, dense, sweet, h-h-h-hot Sid POV that I HIGHLY recommend if you crave postwar healing.

Author: foreignconstellations
Title: Fill in the Holes You've Made
  Rating: PG
SGB comment: Beauteous achy postwar fic.  The intro section sets up this lovely metaphor where Sledge feels he left so many parts of himself in the Pacific and the author returns to this metaphor in many lovely ways.

Author: Frooit
SGB’s comment on Frooit:   ***Frooit WINS.***Frooit writes THE craziest Snafu and also writes so frigging well that, well, Frooit WINS.  Frooit achieves the perfect balance of dialog and exposition, saying just enough in each scene, telling you some stuff, knowing/hoping you’ll figure the rest out.  Frooit can do porn, gore, angst, war, even second person POV.   Thank you, Frooit!!!

Title: Melancholy (4 parts)
  Rating: PG-13
SGB’s comment  This series is “the postwar get together possibility.”  Sledge POV.

Part 1: The Last Hurrah

Part 2: Sleep Drenched

Part 3: Paper Tiger

Part 4: The Penny Drops

Title: Black as Black
Rating: PG-13
SGB’s comment  Damn, this is great writing.  Snafu and Sledge pummel each other like school age boys who like like each other.

Title: What’s In a Name
Rating: PG-13
SGB’s comment  War angst character studies, really.  But it’s Sledge and Snafu.  Squint and it’s slash.

Title: Amputation
Rating: R (violence)
SGB’s comment  War angst character studies plus war violence.  But it’s Sledge and Snafu.  Again, I say, you might have to squint but if you do, it’s slash.

Title: Bohemian Rhapsody
Rating: NC-17
SGB’s comment  You guys, listen…(breathing heavily, catching breath)…listen…OMG…this one is Frooit - FROOIT! -  taking on a wartime Sledge/Snafu PORN and remember: Frooit’s Snafu is CRAZY.  ***dies and goes to heaven****  The title is exactly right - this is epic historic rock n’ roll operatic perfection.

Title: Repercussion: Bohemian Rhapsody (end)
Rating: NC-17
SGB’s comment   An extension of the Sledge/Snafu PORN.  My heart!  ***comes back to life and then dies and goes to heaven again, hooking Frooit out on my way this time so I don’t have to live in eternity without more Frooit fics ****

Title: Chinese Proverb
Rating: PG-13
SGB’s comment   Definitive ‘shippy slash, Pacific canon.  Dear lord, mighty fine writing.  Great dialog.

Title: Unrequited
Rating: PG-13
SGB’s comment   I choked on the magnificently thick almostness of this aptly titled fic.  Have a glass of water handy.

Author: 7fruitdrop7
Title: Scar Tissue
Rating: T
SGB’s comment   Mary-Frank Sledge’s POV.  A really lovely look at how a determined mother copes with her postwar broken son.
**Original POV Award!**

Author: jesuisamber
Title: feel my words and the pain intertwined
Rating: PG-13
SGB comment: Postwar Snafu POV getting letters from Sledge.  A beauty.  Slimly written, dense with awesome.  [happy sigh]

Title: fuckin’ tired (broken link!  I wrote to jesuisamber and was told the story was probably deleted in a substance induced confusion and might be lost forever.  Aw, man.)
Rating: PG-13
SGB comment: Foxhole moment.  This was one the first Sledge/Snafu fics I ever read and it still gets me here (oof, in the gut) as one the better ones for battlefield comfort

Title: i know in my heart it’s not you
Rating: NC-17
SGB comment: This starts as poetic prose and angles toward (but doesn’t attempt to be) straight poetry, as the hotness and awesome and pain heat up…readitreaditreadit…really really really really good….

Title: Wake Up Sledgehamma
Rating: PG
Written from a prompt: Sledge wakes up on the train to find Snafu left him a note.

Author: Kinnoth
Title: friends who share your past
alt titles(?): protip: for a healthy relationship, spend less time doing the sex, more time talking about feelings
Rating: NC-17
SGB Comment: Tickles me in all the right spots: good writing, angst and aches that hurt so good somehow.  This fic gets in their heads real good for a bit, looks around, reports what it sees, then follows what has to happen because of what's all in there, like it or not.  Wonderful pain.

Author: laimielle
Title: Postscript
Rating: R
SGB’s comment  Arcs the reader beautifully from the end of the war to postwar and builds a great story from there.  The pace is one of the best things about this one.  It is in no hurry but is by no means dragged out, showing us the contents of Sledge’s head very, very thoroughly and deliciously.

Author: la_petite_singe
Title: it’s just skin
Rating: PG-13
SGB’s comment   A deep, breathtakingly detailed and beautiful look inside Sledge’s head during battle as he copes with his war angst, slowly building to how his being with Snafu makes sense.

Title: And Life is Over There
Rating: PG-ish
SGB’s comment:  Train scene.  Bromance/slash boundary.  There can never be enough dealing with that train scene.

Author: legit
Title: Just Enough
SGB comment: A de-anon’ed pacifickink fill.  Charming postwar domesticness.  Really grows the boys together in a lovely way.  (Interesting factoid: Augustbird’s “Not Quite Home” is also an answer to the same meme prompt.)

Author lightningwaltz
Title: Daylight
SGB comment: uthor calls this a drabble, and yes, it is, but it's fun to read Snafu POV.  It is more bromance or pre-slash, I guess, but its 600 words is packed with telling you about Snafu's experience of Sledge quite cleverly.

Author: lootas
Series Title: If Existentialism Was a Woman
SGB’s comment  This one follows canon very very closely with the thickest damned glasses looking for slashy angsty fun in every nook and cranny.   Also contains Burgin, Leyden, Hillbilly, Haldane, others, just being themselves around, filling out the fun of being in canon.  Each part gets better (and I’m not just saying that because it only gets to NC-17 at the end…).

Part 1 (PG-13

Part 2 (R)

Part 3 (PG-13)

Part 4 (R)

Part 5 (R)

Part 6 (NC-17)

Title: Here Lies the Death of Glory
Rating R
SGB’s comment   This one is overtly Sid/Sledge, but Sledge/Snafu is in there.  So when you get desperate for a fresh Sledge/Snafu fix, go here.  Also, it’s a pretty cute Sid POV desperately just trying to help his friend post war.

Author: lunajka
  Title: We’ll burn together
Rating: PG
  SGB’s comment   Train scene fixer

Author:  medicmarina
Title: Innocent Eyes
Rating: NC-17
  SGB’s comment   Snafu’s thoughts/lust/angst over Sledge.

Title: Letters to Snafu
Rating: PG-13
SGB comment: This may be bromace or slash - you decide.  But definitely it’s Sledge pretty much just putting it all out there for Snafu.  Nothing subtle about it.

Author: missmollyetc
Title: Take Me Out
Rating: R
SGB’s comment  A weird little intimate moment in a foxhole on Okinawa.  A thinker.  Damn, this is an interesting community!!

Author: noodlearmy
Title: I am hiding from some beast (but the beast was always here)
Rating: R or so
SGB’s comment A brief, rough riff on the boys.  Like, the super-handy Cliff Notes of the angst and porn going on during the events of the Pacific.
