oh god, what have i done (subtitle: i didn't really need a new fandom.)

So.

This is actually one short story in a loose collection of stories all centered around Ianto Jones. They're not in any particular chronological order and they don't really connect with each other in any meaningful way-- except that they're all about Ianto, and how he can do anything.

In fact, that's sort of the title for the series.

That's completely delightful! Oh, Ianto, so perfect. *heartswell* And there'll be more? yaye!

I might poke my friends list and ask them if they know the fandom's logistics better than me (I don't have any related comm on my lists, I only read what comes my way like this).

There will certainly be more. At least one more within the week, I think, if I can make myself quit polishing it and just post already.

And thank you! It's nice to know I'm not totally off the mark on this. The first few stories in any new fandom are a bit nerve-wracking, I find-- I'm never really convinced I've got a good grasp on tone.

You could always post to torch_wood. That is the main comm for the fandom. Or if you want to get pairing specific, there's jackxianto. You could also drop a link to the mods of torchwood_three, the fandom newsletter.

Anyway. This was pretty awesome. I love Ianto manipulating-- I mean, managing things. :)

Thank you for the advice; I've gone ahead and posted on torch_wood as per your suggestion.

And I'm glad you enjoyed it! It is my (not so) secret theory that Ianto Jones, like all individuals in support jobs, is the true power behind the throne at Torchwood. Really, the whole thing would collapse like a house of cards if he weren't around.

God, you write well. You are SO good at getting the voices and the ton exactly right. I much admire your gift!

Thanks!

(And-- whew. I caught an errant "gotten" right before I posted, so I was a bit concerned.)

Apart from a 'z' in colonise, this Brit doesn't see any nasty mistakes! A great little piece, and I loved the way you captured their voices. Gwen and Ianto really do have a great little friends dynamic, don't they?

Oh and while I remember, hp_britglish and dw_britglish are brilliant references for all youse foreigners asking questions about British English, customs and British stuff in general. Take a gander, they're well worth a look.

Thank you very much for the reference links-- I'm certain I'll wind up using them. And I'm so glad you liked the story! It's always a little scary to venture into unknown waters, so it's nice to know that you enjoyed my attempt.

As for the colonize/colonise thing-- le sigh. I know, I know. I had a whole long conversation in my head about whether I should go the whole hog and British-ize (British-ise?) my spelling as well as my grammar and vocabulary and idioms, but. I decided against it, because (a) my spelling is atrocious enough without mixing in a separate orthographic tradition, and (b) I'm a stubborn American and I like my colors with one o and I'm partial to aluminum with the correct number of syllables. ;)
