Oh my dear gosh this is wonderful, and let me agree with the above, WHY WAS THIS NOT IN THE MOVIE!! IT's such a great scene of acceptance, and showing Steve's worry over the new body, and seriously it's all kinds of wonderful!!

err, I don't suppose you might consider posting this over at <"lj-user="wingheads">. It's a community for all things Captain America and I'm trying to promote it, especially with Steve/Bucky stuff ^__^

Thank you so much!

And yay! I'll definitely crosspost to wingheads. I've been looking for a place to put Steve/Bucky stuff, so it's good to know it's welcome there :D

Ooh, I like this this take on body image issues. And Steve's relief at still having his scars like a touchstone to who he was. Love this!

(I has no Bucky icons. SADNESS)

Thanks :) I thought about doing this as Bucky looking at Steve and having issues with the difference, but then I thought, huh, if Bucky's feeling that, no way Steve doesn't have it worse. Hence this. :)

(That is so, so sad. Feel free to snag any of mine if you like :D The Bucky one I have are all made by me, no credit necessary.)

It's awesome. A huge change and not one I've really seen explored (Still so much I need to read in this shiny new fandom, yes? YES). I have a thing for the idea of scars and memories and I've written Steve as losing his scars before and being bothered by it, but I really like the idea of him getting to keep the ones from before the serum and continually checking to make sure they're still there as a grounding mechanism.

I used a similar idea in a Star Trek fic once, where Jim Kirk was angsting over his celebrity and horrified at the propaganda images that erased his scars so he felt he was being made over into a lie and losing himself to the role.

I may want to revisit the idea further in a Steve fic. *g* Can I borrow your head canon, bb? :D

Oh, absolutely, borrow away! I don't know why I think Steve got to keep his scars, given the fact that he's been transformed pretty much entirely, but the idea is stuck in my head. I'd love to see people expand upon it :)
