The road stretched out forever, cutting through heat haze and horizon. Sam needed the comfort of the open road before him, and the rumble of the Impala surrounding him, Dean in the driver’s seat.
They were racing for time, not knowing where the war would begin. Interrogating a trapped spirit brought another revelation - the demon-touched kids, the psychics, would light a fuse and blow the gates of Hell wide open.
Staring out the window, Sam spoke.
“Storm’s coming.”
“So we ride the whirlwind.”
Sam wished he had Dean’s faith, wanted to believe that he wouldn’t fall. He’d rather die.
