O dear flist, how are you? I have been away, and will for the most part continue to be away. And autumn, for the most part, sucks. But I've missed talking to you! yesss re: balsa. i love that she doesn't confuse assertiveness (and balsa is one of the most quietly assertive heroines EVER) with, well, unnecessary rudeness, and that she always evaluates the situation first, reacts second.

and i LOVE that she both called the empress on her foul play and accepted that the foul play was justifiable; and the empress, accordingly, accepted the censure but was unrepentant. there's just something so level-headed and delicious and adult in the whole power play; and it sets the tone for the whole series.

Mrrr, definitely adult, and layered. And, yes, she didn't demonstrate her power over the empress just for its own sake - she did it to show she's taking this job as a choice. Which, I guess, is very important for the whole saving-eight-souls thing.

What do you think about the new film series thing anyway?

My main feeling is that at least Steve 'What do you mean Ron speaks in the books?' Kloves isn't writing it.

When are your exams over anyway? Have you got plans for after the Masters is over?

I also had a pyjama day today. Mine are checked.

I approve of the film series thing! Like. I do not honestly care much about Fantastic Beasts, nor the finding thereof. But JKR is apparently co-writing the film! And I'm sure it'll be a grand and compelling story. Have you read her two grownup books? I loved both of them and am really glad of the direction her writing is developing towards.

Hah, Kloves. Nobody likes Kloves. Poor dude.

My exams are NEVER OVER. I can take them when I want to and am planning to finish by November, but, like, IT'S HAAARD and I'm tired and also really resentful of the fact I haven't passed them yet. I have no plans beyond "apply to all job-searching sites, do a lot of math tutoring, learn programming, and hope for the best", because my degree has taught me nothing except
a. I don't wanna do PhD
b. teaching in highschool would break my delicate spirit
I mean, I might have to do b. but waaaah. I am smart and do know SOME programmy-type things though, so, like, there is hope for me.

Pyjama days are excellent. Tomorrow is bra-wearing day, alas! :(

It's more like again have a cough. It was symmetric: coughing, heart issues, rheuma, heart issues, coughing. Which, um, probably explains my modern!Hannibal needs. In retrospect. Oops.

YULETIDE THOUGH. I can't waaait. But I'm a Cat Person is very steadily falling out of my favour with recent updates, which means I once again am not entirely sure what to ask/offer. Also, is it a good idea to do Sleepy Hollow withing the frame of Yuletide? Also, aaaah. Still, it's going to be excellent, I hope.

Yuletide is pretty much my favorite thing in fandom. It's just so much fun.

I don't know about Sleepy Hollow! It seems like it's turning out to be a big fandom? But it's so early that it's hard to tell. You've got two weeks to decide, though!
