Moon Cycle 46: 12/19 - 12/25 + SECRET SANTA ASSIGNMENTS

We have figured out the Secret Santa assignments, and those are posted at the end of this post! But first, here's this week Moon cycle.

❖ MOON CYCLE 46 ❂ 12/19/10 - 12/25/10
Phase: Full moon; for the third week in a row, the moon is shining at its brightest during this whole week.

Weather: The weather is pretty much the same from last week. Temperatures are still the same from the previous week, ranging from a high of mid-30s °F to lows in the mid-20s °F. As usual, there are slippery patches. All smaller lakes are frozen over, making it perfect for ice skating. There are small glacier patches on top of the lake, but the water is still warm.

Effects: No other additional effects outside of the following notes.

Notes: The third setting change: Santa's Workshop.

• Winter effects still in place. All the previous winter effects from the last moon cycle are still in place. This includes the mistletoe, the snowmen, and the floating ornaments.
  
  
• No more candy. All of the previous Candyland effects have disappeared! Well, mostly. The walking nutcrackers are still around. But everything is more or less back to normal. However, things aren't quite completely back to normal.
  
  
• Santa's Workshop. For everyone living in the village Espoir, they will discover that while their own homes and most of the area is normal, there is a new building where the fountain used to be. There is a large, blinking, sign that reads "SANTA WORKSHOP" on top, and little elves dressed in red and green can be found bustling about. Various other buildings will have magically appeared to also serve as small toy factories.
  • Open visitation. If anyone is curious, they are free to explore these new buildings, but beware. The elves can get rather protective of the toys being produced there, so if anyone is caught trying to steal anything from there, they may get a taste of Christmas elf magic. Which is really just being stuffed inside a nicely wrapped box and set under the main tree. The name may also be put under the "Naughty" list.
    
    
  • Indestructible. Santa's magic is very powerful you know. Anyone is free to try and destroy the place, but no matter what happens, not even a dent will appear. The only IC repercussions from the NPCs for the attempted destruction would be the elves retaliating and stuffing the offenders inside a box. And possibly thrown into a random tree and added to the "Naughty" list.
    
    
  • The elves. Remember, these guys are short. No fancy, pretty elf boys here! But they're mostly friendly, until you get on their bad side, anyway. Feel free to interact with them and no, you can't kill them.
    
    
  • Where's Santa!? Throughout this week, characters may catch glimpses of a person in a red suit all over Somarium, but no matter how hard they try, they just can't seem to actually fully see the guy. For those who know of Santa, they will more than likely guess that the mysterious man in the red suit is Santa Claus, but is it really? Who knows, they'll just have to wait until Christmas.
    
    
  • Reindeer. Reindeer, including those with red noses, can be found just roaming through the more wooded areas of Somarium. They will most likely be found on the floating mountain, by the lake, the parks, or any small forests in the village. They can also fly, so be careful not to startle them too badly.
  
  
• Rogue Presents. Along with all the "hazards" from the previous events, a new one is popping up this week. All over Somarium, random presents can be found scattered about. Some may be found in a character's room, on the street, on the roof, in the fridge, anywhere! They can be moved around, but be careful. If anyone tries to open one of them, one of two things may happen:
  1. Sparkle and Glitter Explosion. No harm done, but the characters will find themselves with a face full of sparkles and glitter. Inside there will be some candy and a random toy.
     
     
  2. Giftwrapped. The present will come alive and no matter how hard they struggle, characters will suddenly find themselves inside the present, all nicely wrapped and set somewhere randomly on the street for someone to find. However, characters can blast their ways out if they have the ability to do so, as well as use their Dreamberries to call for help.
     
     Group giftboxes are also doable.
     
     Note: The sizes of the boxes vary. On the outside, boxes can be as large as a person, or as small as a jewelry box. However, no matter what the size the box looks on the outside, the inside is roomy and allows for the character to maneuver around. It is a bit cramped, but they have some legroom. Also, they can breathe just fine.
     
     Another note: This option could happen even if the character doesn't try to open the box and is just near them. The rogue presents can be vicious.
  
  
• Present Theft. Now that it's coming closer to the holidays, the crime rate will have risen significantly. There won't be a lot of violence, but there will be a lot of theft going on as gifts are taken everywhere-including the main tree. Feel free to have characters notice the gift thefts in action.

And that should be it. This week is mostly a setting change with just some slight additional effects. Watch out for those rogue presents! We did warn everyone that no present would be safe this week!

Presents can be left under the tree, but don't put your name! It wouldn't be much of a secret otherwise. But if you really want to give them in person, go ahead! So long as they get the present.

Don't forget, they have to all be there by Christmas Day!

As mentioned in the note, presents can be left under the tree, given in person, or if there are any parties happening, they can be given then, too, if the host so desires.
