Hei stumbled into the Café on a whim, it being the closest, seemingly structurally sound building in the area. It was pouring outside; any way to get out of the rain just that much faster was a welcome one, and he was a little too far from his apartment to go back there instead. He started trying to wring the excess water out of his clothes and hair as he made his way around the overturned furniture. Hopefully the other people in the café wouldn't mind his presence there.
"It's always worth a try," Hei said, taking a glance over his shoulder at the door. Somehow, he'd ended up working with Amber again, just like old times. But instead of working with an assassination squad, this time, they were a rescue team. Oh, how the tables had turned.
"I know," said Amber, closing her eyes briefly with a nod. "I know it won't be a problem for the two of us, though."
She put her baseball cap back on, tucking her hair up into it. "Speed is the key here. We've got the time, but we need the speed, too." She looked distantly thoughtful. "...We'll work quickly." It really did bring a flood of memories back to her... All of the time she had spent working closely with Hei in the Syndicate, as spies and killers...
"You're right," Hei said, "We'll have to work quickly if we want to get everyone out of the rain, especially if there might be an aftershock to the earthquake." He looked back at the door again, turning towards it. "We'll have to leave right away so we can cover as much ground as possible."
"I won't activate my powers until we get to a proper central point," said Amber, looking thoughtful. "That way, I'll be able to use it for the minimum amount of time, unless the aftershocks start rolling in too hard. My powers are going to freeze any of that in its tracks... But on such a large scale, I don't want to make it too lengthy."
She followed him to the door. "We'll stick together until we reach a central point, and then split up from there once I've frozen the time stream."
"You shouldn't suspend time any longer than you have to," Hei said, already dropping his act as he opened the door. The storm already threatened to drown him out even before he stepped outside and waited for Amber to follow before letting it shut. "We'll be working on a time limit. If you ever feel that you're pushing your contract to far, resume the natural flow of time."
Amber shielded her face against the rain and nodded. "I think I can do it."
There was a long pause before she breathed, "And the Meteor Shard, I... Even if I feel that I'm reaching my limit, I think it might be able to help us." She looked up into his face, standing close so that he could hear her. "It's only speculation. We'll see if it comes to happen. I don't know much more than that."

"We'll have to be careful," he said.
