He walked slowly, deliberately, giving himself time both to think and evaluate the surroundings. Back in uniform, ShinRa's General strode unerringly to the edge of the district, unable to help feeling the resonating of the city's barrier, even though they were hard at work repairing it. The desert lay just beyond, a colorless uninviting stretch of little but sand.
And it was here, near the statue by the huge sinkhole, that he was to meet the cadet. Or, former cadet, as it were. All in all, Sephiroth wondered why he was even bothering; perhaps as an unspoken favor to Zack. After all of the hell he'd been through since his arrival here, he certainly didn't give a damn about much anymore

As Sephiroth approached, Cloud crossed his arms firmly over his chest, his own sword within its carrier, hanging against his lower back. However much Sephiroth didn't trust him, that feeling was tenfold for Cloud. He had more reason to not trust a damn word the man said, but things needed settling if they were going to come to some kind of peace. At least, if he could, he'd calm things between them and make it his job to watch for even the smallest hint of insanity. He wasn't going to just let him go off the wall, after all

The General really hoped this boy didn't believe him an idiot. Naturally he wasn't simply going to just offer himself up as a target, nor come within striking range. Granted, that Sephiroth's own reach was a bit longer than most's, well, that was just how the cards fell, wasn't it? However, he had no intention of initiating a brawl, but he'd be damned before he backed down from any belligerence tossed his way.
He didn't answer right away, taking a moment to size up this former cadet before him. Finally deigning to respond, he nodded once. "My last memory before waking here was dropping off to sleep in the Inn, after recording preliminary mission reports to be dispatched the following morning."
And hadn't it been a bit of a surprise, opening his eyes, going about his normal routine only to step out in a completely different world than the one in which he'd fallen asleep just six scant hours before? Even now, it still gave him a slight headache.
The blonde frowned instantly, head lowering as he thought everything over, almost like he was discussing it with a voice in his head. He just wouldn't admit to anyone that habit had been picked up when Zack and Aerith used to speak to him from the Lifestream. Now, without their voices, he had to discuss thoughts with only himself. He sighed, not sure how to approach this without violence.
Finally lifting his gaze, he nodded towards him slightly. "Then... I apologise for my behaviour," he murmured, though his voice didn't hold much remorse. He could even taste bile in his mouth at having to apologise to Sephiroth.
"How much do you want to know about what happened? And about who you are?" He curled his fingers into fists as he recalled ever second of the time they'd once stood alongside each other, with him desperate to be just like Sephiroth. "I'm sure you've seen dreams on the network about Nibelheim being on fire."
He would only tell Sephiroth as much as he requested. There was no point in forcing information on him.
