[Ears perk forward at catching the soft crooning, the wolf's form gathering onto her paws after giving a thorough shake of her fur of the gathered leaves. She had been taking a nap out in the fields, enjoying little of the sun that was out before Winter came along and got rid of the warmth completely, however her attention was now brought to the sound of a unfamiliar animal cry. It wouldn't be motherly of her if she ignored the distressed sound, it tug at her very being to see what could be making such a sad sound.
When she spots the dragon, it's size is quite small compared to Yomigami but it was odd nonetheless to see a dragon about in this kind of place. The Sun Goddess pays not a second to spare on approaching the being, approaching calmly as grass sprouted from after her steps, emitting a light bark in his direction. What troubles you, young one?]
[The bark startled the Night Fury, but not enough to truly trouble him. He turned his head sharply, focusing on Amaterasu for a long moment. A wolf... large, with unusual markings to her. She had a particular air about her, one of sunlight and of warmth and of good. Overall, she was very much the opposite of Toothless, even beyond the fact that she was predominantly white in color.]
[He crooned after a moment, folding his ears against his head. I've lost my human, and I've no idea where he could have gone.]
[Her body moves on over, approaching closer before she stopped just a few before him. Tilting her head just a little, closer so their noses were just inches from another. She's giving a curious sniff, glancing at him to take in his features. At least he was not injured, still, she returns her gaze to him now. Her ear twitches at the croon, moving to shift and come to stand along his side and taking glance of the saddle.]
[His human? Ah, so he did not arrive alone. She gives a motherly nudge against his cheek, whining out quietly. What does he look like? A name? Her eyes come to rest to a close, there is a possible chance he may have returned home.]
[Toothless returns the sniff, curious and maybe a little apprehensive. He had no reason to fear this creature, but something about Amaterasu's presence made him... not uneasy, but... Well, let's just say his sixth sense was cluing him in that he was in the presence of a God. He lets her move around as she will, watching her warily.]
[The nudge causes him to croon again, softly, and he closes his eyes over, considerably more at ease. The boy-- his boy. His name was Hiccup, and he was a slight little thing with wild reddish-brown hair and green eyes. He was covered in freckles and he wore green and a fuzzy fur vest. Toothless had looked through the Dreamberry, and been unable to find his name.]
Alice had seen that Hiccup had left and she knew there was a very distressed dragon out there. So she quickly grabbed her coat and went searching for the dragon. She didn't know how one went about finding a dragon so it took her a few hours until she came across the field, her feet aching.
But when she saw a giant black mound in the field she quickly went over to it.
Alice was a strange sort of case for the Night Fury. She had known him before he had arrived, when he had never met her, and she had presented him with affection and scritches and a love he had only previously received from Hiccup, without provocation or request. He hadn't disliked it, but for a while it had confused him more than anything (naturally, he appreciated the scritches regardless
( ... )
As soon as she saw reached him and hugged him tight. Her little arms wrapped around the girth of his neck and she gently pet under his chin as she rested her forehead on the ridge above his eye. Oh how was she going to explain Hiccup was gone? She continued to pet him and hold him sitting down, the ground covered in leaves.
She should soothe him first. That's what her family always did for her first.
The dragon may have a slight hitch in your plan to soothe him before explaining, Alice. For no sooner had he settled himself in the grass (he didn't want to leave her stretched at an odd angle, and he did so enjoy the embrace he enjoyed giving her) did he begin to croon dragon-spoken questions about his boy. He appreciated her company, and the scritches, and all of it-- even her worry, when in most cases worry on the part of humans tended to do little more than amuse him. But worry wasn't what he needed or wanted right now-- he wanted to find his boy.
[And oddly enough, Toothless doesn't seem to notice Cid at first, either. He croons at his tailfin again, as though to ask it to summon its creator, before he looks up and finally notices the man on his way past.]
[For a moment, he considers letting him pass. Cid tended to be grumpy and not in the mood to tolerate Toothless, and he may not have known where to look for Hiccup in the first place. In the end, he found himself getting to his feet and plodding quietly after the man, simply following him for a while until he caught up and brushed his snout against the back of the pilot's arm.]
[When the man swears, Toothless actually flinches back, and whines softly. Except this time, he didn't appear to be being a brat about it. He was honestly seeking your attention, honestly desiring it, and now he's not sure how to act. So he takes a step backward, scolded, and sits.]
And that that particular moment when the dragon rested on the hill, Merlin had been climbing up the opposite side, a bucket of --fortunately enough for the dragon, but not so much for him, probably, -- fish that he planned to cook for dinner. Instinct had him halting when he saw the beast, more so because he knew the dragon was fond of fish. Even though the poor thing, currently, didn't even look like he wanted to try for it.
Merlin frowned, setting down the bucket a few feet off and heading closer to the dragon, 'Something wrong?"
Fish, for all being one of Toothless' favorite and most coveted things in the world, was likely the farthest thing from the dragon's mind at the moment Merlin chose to turn up. The smell of them caught his nostrils, but he ignored it, much more focused on the task of waiting for Hiccup.
The dragon lord's voice brought him around, though. As Merlin approached, Toothless turned his head and folded his earfins flat against his head.
"Hiccup is gone," he stated simply. It was the truth-- there was no point in dallying around it. He had searched everywhere, been everywhere. The boy's scent was nowhere beyond where it lingered from days past, residual in a way that told Toothless the smell would no longer be fresh.
Colour him surprised then. Something must have been wrong if the dragon didn't freak out upon smelling delicious fish. Now he'd have to offer some after getting that terrible news.
Merlin frowned even harder, his eyes softening some as he sat down in front of the dragon and reached out to pet along his nose gently. That was one of the saddest things he had ever seen, man. and he had seen a lot of sad things in his life.
"I'm sorry, Toothless. Do you think he might come back?" he didn't know how Somarium worked really, "Maybe you'll be able to go home soon, too."
Very wrong indeed, Merlin. Though even if things had been fine and normal, Toothless would have liked to think he would have the personal discipline to not declare Merlin's fish his own when he was capable of catching them himself.
...Perhaps.
The hand upon his snout soothed the dragon slightly, and he closed his eyes over momentarily. "He might," he offered, also truthfully. Might was a highly uncertain response, but appropriately so. Toothless wouldn't have assumed that Hiccup would have disappeared so abruptly, so perhaps he wouldn't assume he would return. A slight sort of sigh escaped him. "I can only hope he doesn't take too long." With a gentle nudge against Merlin's hand, he opened his eyes again with something vaguely resembling a smile. It either colored his features or affected his voice-- it was hard to tell. "And what of yourself? I couldn't see myself leaving you in a place like this on your own." Because yes, Merlin, Toothless has adopted you. You are, as you say, a Dragon Lord, and he is, most assuredly, a Dragon.
Peach was finally getting used to her surroundings. That place had a nice, magical vibe all around and she felt quite comfortable there. The ominous presence of that black-hole wasn't there either, so that made her more at ease. Maybe Bleck's plan of destroying 'all worlds' wasn't really that grim, if this world had been left untouched by his magic.
While walking, she noticed the dark dragon. Dragons weren't exactly the most rare sight in her world, but some of them weren't very friendly, so she grew a little bit weary for a moment. But upon closer look it seemed like the little dragon wasn't a threat, so she approached him with a smile.
Peach's glowing pleasant mood caught Toothless somewhat off-guard, and he started a little as he turned to look at her. Her strange many robes confused him, as did her complete unabashed happiness as she approached. He had never come across a human that approached him in quite this way. His boy's absence suddenly forgotten, Toothless trilled at the approaching happy princess.
She took a look around. Apparently, the creature was all by itself. She tilted her head to the side while looking at him.
"You are a lot smaller than the dragons I've seen before."
Honestly, she's used to quite long ones, like Fractail, which was easily the size of a ten store building. To see one so small like Toothless was a novelty, really.
Under different circumstances, Toothless may have behaved as though offended when Peach called him small. Night Furies were compact, and their wings were the largest in comparison to their bodies to allow them vertical takeoff. But, he supposed, when people were used to dragons nearing the size of the Queen, he was pretty small. So he took it with a proverbial grain of salt, carefully spreading his wings open to show her that he wasn't all tiny.

[and then he saw it was Toothless, and a small scowl appeared] Goddammit, Toothless, don't just sneak up on someone like that!
