Liquid Snake only had to wait a short two minutes with the receptionist before the genius prosecutor Franziska von Karma entered the room to join him
( ... )
When Franziska von Karma walked in, all Liquid saw was a challenge. It was evident in her steps, the tilt of her head, the cool curve of her lips. She was as arrogant and proud as he was, and so much for interesting for it. He'd had yet to meet a woman who could match his swagger and hauteur. It was almost impressive.
And Liquid never backed down from a challenge.
He met her gaze with his own, showing nothing but cool indifference in his eyes; she did not intimidate him, try as she might. If she wanted to get anything from him, she'd have to do far better than that.
"Miss von Karma." He leaned slightly upon his cane. "It would seem, unfortunately, that being stabbed in the liver takes quite some time to recover from, even for me, and I'm not yet fully healed. Even so, I'll have no difficulties completing my assigned hours."
That cold smirk turned much sharper at his little bit of humor, the tiniest hint of amusement shining through her icy exterior. Liquid wasn't the only person in the room sizing up another for the challenge that laid ahead. Franziska may have believed the man to be a complete and utter fool considering the charges against him, but that didn't mean breaking him would be simple. His ego was almost as great as hers was, after all. This would not be won by simply cracking her whip over her head and mocking him ruthlessly.
Even so early into the battle, there was one small fact Franziska was quite certain of: destroying Liquid Snake would be the most fun she'd had since arriving to this dream world.
The young woman allowed her gaze to fall down to the man's cane before returning to stare him down intently. "Good. Foolish troublemakers like yourself do not have the luxury of excuses to delay your sentence. Are you ready for your punishment?"
She would find him to be a much harder man to destroy than anyone she'd ever faced, or likely would ever face in the future. Liquid had been tried by fire more times than he could count; she'd have to be very good to even surprise him.
She would regret starting this game with him. He was more experienced with it and had been playing it for far longer than she had.
"I have no need for excuses, Miss von Karma. They are wasted words, and I take no pleasure in wasting my breath. Now, let's not use any more of our time with this than we must. What do you have for me?"

Because he was receiving it either way.
