[early that day, Draco makes his way out to the field opposite his home, broom in one hand, and three balls of differing colours balanced neatly on top of each other in his other. He hums to himself before setting

{Mille had bribed him with a manicure and a massage to come out and witness this atrocity. He wasn't biting at the time, a product of his foul mood upon waking from a week-long sleep coma. But then he decided free nails was worth a few minutes of his time, even if it meant a run-in with Draco Malfoy and a slew of undesirable Somarians.

{The warlock glanced at his chipping nailpolish, a reminder of why he had come, and continued walking across the lawn, wearing a long black coat, leather pants, and too much glitter for an athletic event}

[he was testing how well the Bludgers sought out people when Magnus showed up. It only took a moment, and a word of a spell under his breath, for him to stop the ball mid-direction, before it collided with the warlock. Wouldn't that just be something, after all. And it was nice to see his wandless magic was getting better.

[He tightened his lips into a sneer before addressing Magnus:] And what brings you here, Magnus?

Your 'father'. He can't resist my company.

By all means. What exactly has Mille drawn you here with, out of curiosity?

[In typical Max fashion, the boy came running across the field, dragging his newly bought broom by the end of the handle, his glasses practically falling off his face as he raced towards the set up, so ready to do something outside and see new people]

[never before had Draco seen someone so very...reminiscent of Potter running at him with no intention of throwing a hex. It was a bit boggling, honestly.

[But he pulls out his clipboard, summoning a quill with which to take notes.]

I assume you're here for the tryouts. Name?

Yes! [Max answered between huffing breaths, grinning]

Max Lightwood.

[a tiny Lightwood. Who knew. His eyebrows go up, but he scrawls Max's name at the bottom of the page, following everyone else's names.]

You've never ridden a broom before, that correct?

[Shows up with an armful of brooms of various types and a smlie on his face, ready to try out this new thing.]

I wasn't certain how many or what kind, so I brought a bundle!

[he smirks at the sight, nodding his approval.]

Just one, and whatever strikes your fancy. Thankfully, I'm sure we'll need extras for someone. You have some good choices here.

Glad to hear it! And of course anyone can use whichever ones they want. I think I'll use this one here [has picked a traditional, hand-crafted one made with stiff twigs] as the balance seems best. What do you think?

[he gives it a quick inspection, nodding his approval.]

I like it. Very rustic. You can't beat a nice racing broom, but tragically, low demand means low supply.

[Rika's made it to the field, holding a broom. There's a determined look on her face.]

I can do it, yeah.

[mudbloodhater]

[he smiles slightly as he sees her coming - Rika, if he remembers correctly.]

You made it.

[springisbright]

I did! This game sounds like a lot of fun!

[She shifts her broom to her other hand.] So, how do I try out?

[mudbloodhater]

I cast a charm on your broom, and you show me you can fly, first of all.

[he holds out one hand for her broom, pulling out his wand with the other. Behind him, one Bludger twitches forward, as if it wants to attack the poor girl. He gives it a backwards kick to keep it from doing so.]

So is this for the Quidditch training?

That's right. Ace, wasn't it? [he ticks off the name on his clipboard.]

You know how to fly at all?

[just gives a nod before smiling oh so cheerfully]

Not at all!

[wry so cheery.]

You have a broom, then? Or shall I provide one for you?
