Of course they'd managed to get lost-- there'd been very little surprise for her in the realisation. But Haruhi hadn't minded; in its own way it had been fun. Still, Tamaki seemed far too intent on getting them out of there quickly than Haruhi felt was necessary.
"Hey, slow down, Tamaki-senpai. Where are we even going?" she demanded, gripping his hand more tightly as they continued to weave down streets and push through the crowds. Haruhi's much shorter legs prevented her from fully keeping up with Tamaki's pace, leaving her to rely on his hand to lead her.
At her question, he only glanced at her and gave her a wink. "That's a secret," he said in a teasing voice.
When he saw an gap through the crowds that led down a side street, he quickly turned and went down it. It was a lot quieter here. Tamaki knew that everyone would be gathered in one of the several fields around the village, but as Haruhi may notice, he was purposefully leading them away from those hotspots. "We still have five minutes!"
Haruhi was bewildered, but she followed nonetheless. It wasn't unlike Tamaki to have some sort of grand scheme up his sleeve; she knew his style. He either did things with a grand finale or with no plan at all.
She knew he probably wouldn't answer her questions, but she couldn't resist asking them anyway. Glancing over her shoulder, she noticed they were headed away from most of the crowds, and as though responding to the lessening of noise, she herself grew quiet.
There were still a few people who had also gathered around the area -- most of them couples -- but they were now coming up a small hill with a grove of trees on top.
"This way, this way," he said, slowing his pace a bit as he continued to lead her up the small hill and then past the trees to reveal a nice, clear opening facing in the direction of where most of the fireworks would be set off.
With a quick glance at his watch, his smile broadened as he gently tugged her down to sit on the grass next to him.
"Okay now look over there," he pointed before counting down. "In three...two...one..."
As if on cue, the first set of fireworks whistled high into the air before exploding.
