A.B.A smiled at Malik the second the man greeted her at the door and then made her way in. She stopped only once to crouch down and pet at Starbuck on the floor, having missed seeing the cat for quite a while. She had thought he was very cute when she had first seen him.
"Hmm?" A.B.A looked back up when she heard the man speaking and quickly hurried off the floor after him, letting Starbuck do as he like and head outside. "I do tend to learn best by example," she explained. "So, I suppose that would be easiest for me."
When they got to the kitchen, she hurried first over to where the fish had been laid out and eyeballed them to see if they would flop around like before. When they remained still, A.B.A lifted one hand and poked a finger at a fish.
A.B.A had taken the knife while having no real problem with anything Malik said. She simply leaned over and started to watch the man closely before she decided she could handle trying it out on her own.
She looked to her fish and used both hands. One to keep it steady and the other to try and cut its fins just as Malik was doing. She had never really used a knife before while fighting or for much of anything, so her cuts were a little sloppy and not all that smooth.
When the knife refused to cut the last few inches of a fin the rest of the way off for her, A.B.A set the sharp utensil aside and tugged at the fin with her fingers instead. Hell bent on getting it off herself. It worked, but didn't nessacarily look all that good.
"I think it wanted to keep that one," she said while holding the torn fin up and glancing at Malik.
Without even bothering to knock or announce his presence, Altaïr walked into Malik's cottage after peering in through a window to see Malik and A.B.A in the kitchen. Seeing as it was Malik's cottage and that his own roof was always open for his brother, he felt that he needed no invitation to walk in, not when the door was open in the first place.
Starbuck came to greet him and he bent to stroke the cat before he straightened, pushing his hood back and away from his face as he made his way into the kitchen.
"Safety and peace," he announced, standing just inside the doorway with his arms folded, "I hope I am not interrupting anything."
"Hello, Altaïr," A.B.A said in greeting to Malik's friend. She could only assume safety and peace was just part of the greeting. Either way, the small nod she got in return perked her up. She had liked the other man from the little while she had met him and his name was fun to say.
She almost forgot to pay attention to Malik's lesson, but turned her eyes back when she heard him speaking. She watched his blade cut through the fish and tried her best to listen. It was difficult when she saw Altaïr watching over Malik's shoulder out the corner of her eyes.
"I see. Yes," she said just so Malik would know she was listening. A.B.A then looked down at her own fish and placed the knife in the correct position. When she moved the knife she bent down to better watch how she was cutting.
It hadn't been so easy for A.B.A to ignore Altaïr as it was for Malik. While she continued to try and copy her teacher to the best of her ability she would glance at the other man as if to show off what she was doing. She was only really satisfied when she got a faint look of acceptance here and there.
Once she was done looking over the bones, A.B.A looked around for somewhere to wipe her hands since they felt rather nasty after all of the cutting and gut pulling. Finding nowhere, she gave up and proceeded to wipe them on her shirt with no real care.
"No," A.B.A wet onto answer. "I've never really cooked at all before. The person at the furniture place told me I should have a thing called a stove, but I do not know how to go about using it."
