The key was just that; a key. When it was touched A.B.A didn't feel a thing and stared rather blankly back at the man. It was a new experience for her, though. No one had ever been so close or touched the oddity before.
At the question she dropped her eyes and tried to recall what she did know about herself. "I'm a being called a Homonculus. I was born on a mountain top in a lab. The place was called Frasco. Whoever made me was not there to greet me when I woke up. So, I spent ten years of my life there all alone. I didn't want to leave because I was afraid of the outside world."
A.B.A had no idea words could have such a calming effect, but here she was feeling much better than when she had first woken up. Sure, she was still worried for Paracelsus' safety, but she at least knew that maybe she could leave in the future to return to him.
"You don't seem like an outcast to me," she said in response. "You look very normal." In fact, he did. She could remember quite a few humans she had come across and compared to a handful of other people she had seen, this man was very normal.
A.B.A glanced towards the garden and frowned. She felt bad for what she had done and remembered the angery shouts that had come from the man in front of her. "I didn't mean to ruin that." She looked back at him. "I'll help fix it if you let me."
"Ah, my name isn't--" A.B.A had started to correct him, but he was already gone. Not that it mattered really. As she stood there all she could really think to do was roll the name around on her tongue.
Abby.
It wasn't so bad really. It was close to her own name. She could deal with it if that's what he wanted to call her. But, she kind of still didn't know his name.
When she saw the man returning, A.B.A decided she would ask. She listened as he spoke and took the bag to hold open just as instructed.
"What's your name?" She questioned a little while after he started to shovel the remains of the garden.
So, not only would she need to have new clothes, but also a home as well? Being on her own again was starting to become a chore for A.B.A, but she would have to manage. She was a little upset to learn there was no more room around the area that Malik lived. He had been very helpful so far. If she needed help again she would have liked to be nearby.
"I see," she said mostly to herself. A.B.A looked to the side where Starbuck was resting. She reached over and scritched the kitten along the top of the head despite her own dirty fingers. The kitten didn't seem to mind and even purred its appreciation.
"I suppose I should try and do that then." A.B.A dropped her hand away from the kitten ater having pet him for long enough and stood on her feet like Malik. She handed the bag over that was full of the ruined vegetables. Not knowing what else to do with them. "Thank you for talking with me. I'll try not to step on your plants anymore in the future."
"Mmm, I do know what a phone is; yes." A.B.A looked at what Malik was holding and then twisted this way and that as she searched her person for the device she should have gotten.
There was some success when she found the phone buried in the back pocket of her shorts and started to fiddle with it. A.B.A had never actually used a phone herself, so it was something new to play with.
"You won't mind?" She peeked up over the top of the device in order to look at Malik. "If I ever try to use this to speak with you? Even if you did yell at me when we first met."
A.B.A leaned over a bit to look over on the screen of Malik's phone. There was her name plain as day and she had in fact been found out. She was hoping to keep up the ruse for a little while longer. She had liked that name.
"I don't know," she answered while she took a step back from Malik's personal space. "I've never had what humans call a nickname before. It was nice."
Much like earlier, A.B.A attempted some form of smile when she heard Malik would continue to call her by the nickname. Even if it had been just a random mispronounciation she had still enjoyed it.
The sudden offer had her feeling a little bit of relief, but it was hard to see on her usual stotic face. If she stayed with Malik than she would only have to worry about finding a place at a later date. Clothes would be the only trouble at the current time.
"Yes, please." A.B.A put her phone away as well. "And I promise. I won't cause any trouble for you. I like to keep to myself most of the time." She looked down at her hand, remembering a way that some humans greeted or showed gratitude. So, A.B.A took the intiative and stuck out her dirty palm for Malik to shake.
