Much to Mitsuru's chagrin, no answer comes from the door. There are no sounds that come from the interior of the building and no true indication that anyone may be dwelling inside of it. The founder of SEES is forced to wait after that long and arduous walk through unfamiliar terrain.
Akihiko himself happens to be running late. Having managed to obtain permission to leave the station early, the young officer made haste towards the business district with his partner in tow. The pair soon made their way to the the street Hotel Dusk was on, catching sight of the young woman standing at the entrance way. He couldn't quite explain the feeling that went through him right now; a combination of joy and relief, mixed with a certain lingering anxiety. Patience has never been Mitsuru's forte, a revelation that should shock no one. Minutes pass until she decides to take matters into her own hands, roughly jostling the doorknob. Locked, as she had expected, but that was scarcely comforting. Of course they would choose to be cautious in terms of protecting their abode, but the story took a differing term when the topic of safety arose. With no other option available to her, she could only lean against the wooden material of the door, emitting an aura of unavoidable agitation.
The abrupt interruption startles her, hand impulsively reaching for a concealed Evoker until her eyes catch a proper, closer glimpse of the familiar figure. Her features soften, only to harden again, torn between a balanced serving of vexation and amusement. Dropping her guard even slightly proves to be a tricky feat, but a gradual progression is better than none at all. The smile across Akihiko's face doesn't show any signs of ending as he heard Mitsuru speak. Though it was a veiled insult, it was that kind of harsh response that he'd so sorely missed. It's that type of smile that ends up being expectedly contagious. The smile that dominates her features, in spite of her best efforts to keep it at bay, is genuine. The warmth of it seems out of place in comparison to her normally harsh expressions and as swiftly as it appears, it diminishes with no signs that it was ever truly there.
Biting on the inside of her lip is the easiest way to evade forming another sardonic comment, opting for a silent nod of understanding. It might be sufficient, solid proof of his abilities to cope with responsibility, but he will never be quite off the hook. This is Mitsuru, after all
