For an errand that was supposed to be simple, Danny's sure having a hard time completing it. Yes, the Inspector was all over the evacuated area, keeping an eye on everything at once. Yes, sometimes it appeared as though the man

Danny, however, manages to catch Naomi's attention while she's on her brief break. She raises her eyes up to the boy from her own small snack. It isn't difficult to spot the paper bag she gave him earlier in his hand.]
Having trouble finding our dear Inspector?
[It's most likely easy for Danny to see how exhausted she's looking. Naomi's been at work since early Sunday morning, allowing herself only a few hours of much needed rest before returning to the field. Her clothes are a dirty, bloody mess and she's been leaning a little heavily onto the wall behind her ( ... )

That's the understatement of the year. It's like every place I go, he leaves two seconds before I get there.
Have you seen him?
Reply
Hm, I saw him an hour or so ago, but he's been prowling around all over the place. [She gestures towards the open path to his left.] I believe he went that way.
Reply
Yeah, well, we'll see if I can catch him, this time.
*Instead of starting forward right away, Danny hesitates, turning back to Naomi. Now his eyes flicker down towards her coat.*
So, uh--you doing okay?

Danny Fenton!

Where are you off to in such a rush?

The Inspector had intentionally concealed himself away.
He was still in the fifth district, certainly. In fact he had found himself a quiet alcove to himself not far off from the flock of police--and Naomi Hunter--busy with their work. He stands against a firm, undamaged wall, arms folded loosely across his chest, his head bowed as if in thought. His hat is drawn low enough to shield his face, and a pocket watch dangles loosely from his left hand. Apparently he has been checking it often.
If Naomi is exhausted, her worn appearance couldn't hold a candle to how Javert feels at the moment. Having been unable to afford himself more than an hours' worth of contiguous rest over the past several days, he has gotten into the habit of rewarding himself with small five-to-ten minute catnaps.
Lunch hour happens to be the time for one of those breaks.
Should someone decide to approach him, he would notice that the good Inspector is fitfully dozing away.]

The biggest grin appeared on Schrodinger's face as he realized the identity of the gentleman. The wheels in his head was turning and he was trembling with excitement. This was Inspector Javert! The Somarium boogieman for those who weren't law-abiding citizens. This was too good to be true.
The catboy composed himself as he placed his hands on his hips, standing straight and proud, following through with...] Well, well, well. What do we have here? The famous Inspector Javert, that I've heard so much about, is asleep on the job. What should I make of ( ... )

That not all beasts sleep with both eyes closed.
[Apparently, the famous Inspector Javert is an incredibly light sleeper. Or his implication was that his eyes weren't closed at all... or that he possesses some special ability to keep one eye opened during rest. One can think any number of mystical assumptions of a gypsy, after all. With a deep grimace upon not recognizing the boy's face as one of his men or any of the authorized officials for the search and rescue efforts, he lifts his watch and checks the time. He murmurs with distraction,]This wretch cut ( ... )

okay, she was a little concerned about her apartment, as well. she didn't expect it to have changed by any since she last left it, but it didn't hurt to check.
so here's Maka, darting up sidewalks in hopes that none of the authority figures are around. she isn't too worried; soul perception would tip her off if there were someone nearby, but Maka's fully aware she's still breaking some rules here. info or not, she didn't want to be labeled as a law breaker.]

Huh? ... Maka? *Uh, Danny, she's kind of across the street and well out of hearing range. If you actually expect her to notice that, you'll have to try harder.*
*Starts across the street after her.* Hey--hey MAKA!

-- Shh! Not so loud.
[...she couldn't sense anyone nearby, but better safe than sorry.]

*Reaches her side of the road, and his pace slows drastically.* I mean, not that I'm not happy to see you, but aren't you in a sort of 'police only' zone? *Lifted and crooked his fingers at those last words, seeming interested all the same.*

Hey! Fenton! Come on, over here.
[Akihiko calls to the youth, motioning for him to come over. The Akita in the police vest stands its ground, legs tense as it stares at Danny, sensing something not quite right with the ghost boy.]

*As he approaches, he eyes the dog until his own expression has sunk into a tense, uncomfortable frown. Rather than go and slouch beside Akihiko, Danny stops a small distance away, as though intending to continue with his errand at any moment.*
Nice dog. You wanted to talk with me?
