To add on to what everyone else said, the item is called a Dreamberry and it's used for communication with people in Somarium, as well as to record your dreams.

It doesn't happen every night... but when you sleep, sometimes you dream here, and everyone who has a Dreamberry can see your dreams. I don't sleep much at night, so I pretty much see all of them. It's been a productive way to meet the people of Somarium, but it's a little intrusive.
