A moment to stare at the Dreamberry--never mind that he'd hung up on Ran more than once, having Ran hang up on him just threw Youji off. Hadn't much enjoyed their most recent one-on-ones, but the honest truth ( Read more... )

Ran walked the streets until he arrived at the shop. He knew that the conversation had been filtered but sometimes things just didn't always get across like that. But, that really wasn't the real reason why he was here.

Youji was having trouble keeping it together. He wanted to see him in person. Even if he could do nothing, just coming here could mean more than not coming at all. He knew that.

He didn't linger outside since Youji would be able to see him. Upon entering, he didn't look at all as tired and drained as he actually felt. He'd buried that deep down, having no time for it. Politely, he nodded to Youji before looking around the shop.

It wouldn't be the same without Omi but they would manage.

In his mind he had to wonder which of them was being ridiculous now. Mamoru was in the end a Takatori. He hadn't seen much of what he'd become now but he had an idea of what was in store for the future. Just by hearing about what had happened to Sena. That...had almost been too much to handle.

All the same, Ran raise his glass to the toast and added to him.

"To the good memories of Omi Tsukiyono."

"Him, too." Youji waved a dismissive hand. Took just a sip of the wine. Somehow, drinking to Omi (less so to Mamoru) was something he wanted to prolong. Possibly even savor.

Didn't really want to brood on it, but he couldn't help the contemplative look into his glass. There wasn't much to contemplate, was there? Youji knew where Omi's path led, and where his story ended--a final mission, a final bid against Eszet, a final defiance against the only family he had left. And then--nothing.

"What else should we toast?" he mused. "Can't give Omi all the glory."

"Mm. Whatever you like, Youji."

He wasn't very good at the toasting thing anyways. Usually, he avoided drinking altogether. It was rare occasions like this where Ran would change that up and allow a glass of something. Typically a very dry martini but this would do.

Youji laughs a bit; not very sincerely, however. More because what he's about to say needs that setting.

"Your helpfulness is appreciated," he said, sarcasm not very biting, but clear.

"Let me see. How about--a toast to the wise and lovely Aya? May she remain happy and healthy."

Youji lifted his glass, hoping Ran would take the cue. Was Aya holding up? With Omi's departure and the Irial debacle?
