Frederic was trying, in vain, to get some of the creeping vines from marring his cottage, but after at least an hour of doing this, the man needed a break, so he went on a walk to explore the rest of the overly green village. For once, the man was not wearing his trademark top hat and blue coat, as he would have been far too hot in them, and he was wearing a causal button down shirt, which was not as formal, but still just enough for him to keep his usual gentlemanly look...
However, his thoughts kept him a little distracted, enough not to notice the suspicious "tree" upon first glance.
That was perfectly fine, though, since the "tree" was quite content to notice him first.
"Hello, hello~!" Death said pleasantly, the moment Frederic passed by. If before he had seemed stationary and perhaps a little dead, he know seemed quite the opposite. The slight motion of his form recalled that of a spring that was still bouncing somewhat from the momentum of being pressed upon and released. "Nice day we're having~ ♪"
"Ahh!" The composer nearly jumped in shock at the voice, and upon noticing the slight movement. Frederic tensely and quickly turned to stare in wide eyed surprise at what he had completely missed before... Sweet lord, what was this thing?! It certainly was not human, that was as clear as day... And yet he felt a vague sense of familiarity with the sight. He guessed that perhaps it was one of the ghosts, but that didn't explain why he felt as if he had met it before. After his nerves finally cooled off sufficiently, he got his voice back, even if he still sounded slightly jarred.
It definitely was something familiar, in a sense. Though Frederick obviously had not met with this particular incarnation, Death was universally understood. Having experienced it himself first-hand, being in the presence of this... entity again might have felt just a little uncanny.
"Didn't mean to give you a scare~" Shinigami's voice was slightly comedic-sounding, as though he was never completely serious, but his mask didn't even give a flicker of emotion. "Just out and about, huh?"
Needless to say, Yuan wasn't particularly looking for suspicious trees that morning, nor was he expecting anything more out of the norm than things already were. He was more concerned with trying to figure out what was going on, and why the village suddenly seemed usurped by shrubbery and green vines. The lilies in the front were already completely trashed and the buildings seemed next on the list.
"How on Slyvarant..." A mutter, and a confused look at the mass of greenery. It just kept getting worse and worse, didn't it?
"How indeed!!" exclaimed the 'tree' next to him. Unfortunately for Yuan, though, it wasn't a weird tree, but a very irritating acquaintance. Before he had time to protest to his bad luck, though, Shinigami had already sproinged to his side with the intention of ambling along with him for awhile.
"Then again, underestimation is half of what got us here~"
Oh, it had been awhile, a long time indeed, but he recognized that strange voice from anywhere. The Renegade Leader paused, tensed, and looked to his right. And lo and behold, there he--it?--was. He unceremoniously paled, but steeled his gaze. There was nothing to be unnerved about. It was just a pest, that's all.
It's you...
"What do you mean, 'what got us here', I thought that was still in question?" A suspicious stare.
"Expect the unexpected and all that~" Shinigami paused in time for a bird call to echo eerily through the junglescape. "Tho~ough, I have to say, it's interesting to watch nature reclaim its space like this!! Only in our dreams. ♪"
Obviously he had seen this happen time and time again, just with the passage of time, but watching it happen literally overnight made it seem so much more theatrical. If he was even remotely concerned about what might happen next, there was no indication whatsoever, lending him an air of obliviousness that seemed a little infuriating coming from someone who claimed to be Death.
"Unless you're not into the color green, of course. Then it's not so nice."

Good luck getting rid of him now.
