It hadn't been entirely unexpected, the Doctor arriving here. After all, it seemed that the Doctor always did manage to find his way to where ever the Master was. It was a little frustrating, however, that it had occurred before he'd truly found time to settle but that wasn't something that could be helped. Regardless, what was more on the unexpected side of things, was the fact that the Doctor had succeeded in managing to misplace the TARDIS and had then decided to employ his help in searching for it. He doubted the Doctor truly imagined that they'd have intentions that coincided, regardless of what he might hope for ( ... )

It had to be one of the strangest greetings he'd ever heard, but the Doctor smiled anyway, having turned towards the Master as soon as he'd heard the man step outside ( ... )

He raised his eyebrows a little at the 'hello' and wave, choosing to more-or-less ignore the greeting. "But having a tracking device would just be making things easy". It would also have led to the chances of the Master getting his hands on the TARDIS as being significantly slimmer than they were currently. "You'd have thought there'd have been some sign of it -- you did start to ask the entire--", he faltered for a brief moment, not entirely sure of how to refer to Somarium. Being that it was made up of several locations, it certainly wasn't a city, but it could hardly be termed as a county or state. "Populace whether or not they'd seen a blue box".

He wasn't overly keen on walking behind the Doctor, so as the other set off, he took a few faster steps to catch up, glancing at the Doctor briefly out of the corner of his eyes. "You did start looking before this, didn't you? I don't fancy trawling across the entire land just because the Doctor couldn't bare to search all on his lonesome".

"Well, I may have taken a bit of a walk around the village area," the Doctor answered, non-committally. He glanced towards the Master, frowning a little. This meeting... it was bizarre. He'd watched the Master die in his arms and refuse to regenerate. Even if he had, he wouldn't look like this. Over the hundreds of years they'd known each other, the Master had gone through plenty of regenerations (his set, and then some), so why was he appearing now in this one? It wasn't as if the Master had come from some kind of parallel universe - he clearly remembered dying, if the dream he'd had was any proof, and yet here he was, walking, talking, and likely scheming to find some way to take the TARDIS and run.

"Where would you go?" the Doctor asked, suddenly. The rest of the question was "if you managed to find the TARDIS and leave," but he quickly added, "if you could go anywhere. There's no home left to go to." He said it matter-of-factly, but it stung, just a bit. Words that brought around memories of the war always did.
