Naomi was there to open the door after only a second after the knocks. Leaning heavily against the frame of her doorway, she gave Gale a quick look up and down. Yes, this was most definitely one of those cannibals who had eaten Vamp. Still, after speaking to the man after his dream, she had been anticipating this meeting, quite eager to just dive right in and explore the inner workings of his body. To see just what in his genetic material would cause this man to turn into the demon she saw before.
However, the doctor had to remain professional for now.
Holding out a small hand, she greeted Gale with a kind smile. "Hello, Gale. It's a pleasure to meet you in person."
He felt that he should have known what they were. But as with many other things, it was entirely out of his grasp. How much else did he and the other Embryon fail to understand? They were like...
"An allergy is an immune system disorder that causes an abnormal reaction to your body when you encounter an allergen, such as pet hair or mushrooms. Reactions can vary from runny eyes to rashes across the body to death."
Well, at least he had gotten the point. Even if Gale believed he was a child, it was much easier teaching him than Frank.
"I don't believe that would fall under the exact definition, but I can see your reasoning behind it. Perhaps that is something we can look into after the examination."
"I'm afraid that I must insist you ask them yourself. I suppose it might be considered the equivalent of speaking openly about one's family. In our world, information is not given freely. To do so is to risk the lives of the entire tribe."
Gale watched the woman briefly. "Is there anything else?"
Even though the man had a right to tell her otherwise, Naomi still felt it silly to seek out his fellow tribesmen when he was right here and accessible.
"So I have to go through all of your friends to learn about you?"
Gale laughed slightly in reply. "You asked me about my friends. I am more than willing to openly discuss my own experiences."
He relaxed even more, shifting slightly on the counter. "I am the chief tactician for my Tribe. It is my duty to observe, to process data into a form the others can respond to and act upon. I have been with the Embryon for five years, but not as long as the others. I came into being a bit later than they did. I have seen much in my brief lifetime...but I did not begin to comprehend it until I met the leader of the Wolves Tribe, Lupa. ...In fact, I'm rather ashamed to say, but I did not want to comprehend. To do so would require giving in to the more "illogical" emotions that everyone had been experiencing.
"When he died...I saw the Junkyard and its demons for what they truly were."
"How interesting. I had no idea things were so complex within your world. What exactly can you tell me about your...um...other self? That is, your demon self."
"Vayu? It is a creature of raw emotion, rather than rational thought. Primal instinct over reason. But it is not without personality of its own. It enjoys nothing more than a good hunt, or simply running at top speed."
He glanced down at the black brand on his leg. "I don't remember much about the first transformation. I remember a burning sensation when the light entered my body...and an overwhelming hunger. I tried to fight the change--after all, it was 'illogical'--but my head began to hurt intensely soon afterwards, and I remember nothing after that."
Gale looked back to Naomi. "Would you like to see Vayu for yourself?"

It's almost as if we are children.

"I am unsure what causes it...but there is the issue of losing control of our bodies at times. Might that be considered an allergy?"

"Just take a quick step over there so I can record your height and weight please."

"Well, that certainly is convenient. What else can you tell me about you and your friends?"
