Turning her head weakly at the sound of another person, Rue's eyes met Zero's, cautiously at first before she regained confidence. She stood frozen for several moments before finally responding, "it's nothing".

Sitting in the grass, Alec leaned back on his elbows and looked up on the clouds. He'd never been one for cloud gazing, that was something better suited for mundanes. But what else was he to do in this strange world? His Shadowhunter abilities didn't seem to be required, and no one had any idea of how he could actually get home. It bothered him... a lot. He was sure his skills were getting rusty, that Jace was getting into all sorts of trouble, and who even knew if they had all made it safely off the ship.

And then he heard screaming, and his head snapped up. Alec looked around, searching for the source of the sound.

There. It was a slender girl with dark black hair. She appeared to be screaming at... birds? And for a moment, in her fury, she kind of reminded him of his sister.

Getting to his feet, Alec approached her. "Hey, are you all right? Are the birds bothering you or something?"

Other people being around was the last thing Rue had expected. For a second she blushed, but willed it away.

"Um....sort of. It's not a big deal, though. It just...brought back memories is all"

Alec was fairly certain that was a lie if he ever heard one. Usually, he wasn't one to pry, but she had definitely been shouting, and he had seen his fair share of strange stuff.

"You sure? I can check and see if someone's bewitched the birds or something if you want," he said, taking his stele out of his back pocket.
