Haku rushed past everything, his quick eyes moving across everything, his hands always at his senbon holsters. As soon as he had heard about the monsters, he had taken to the streets; someone was bound to be in trouble, and he was willing to help anyone who needed it.
Like the wolf (or dog? He couldn't tell correctly from this distance) that was surrounded by monsters. It may have been just a canine, but it was in trouble, and he was willing to give it.
Moving forwards quickly, his hands grasped eight senbon in his hands. With a battle cry, he hurled all eight at some of the monsters. The odd, inhuman yells as the needles sank into their flesh told him they were injured. And going to pay attention to him now. He glanced over them, one hand at his weapon holsters and the other moving over his face, brushing the bangs out of his eyes. Let them come. He was ready for them.
When the wolf became a boy his age once again, Haku briefly wondered how he did it. He would ask, but it didn't really matter.
And as for the injuries...he considered it for a moment, mentally checking himself for injuries. His chest was sore from the hit the worm had given him, but he couldn't feel any other significant pain. In the fashion Zabuza had taught him, he ran his hands quickly along his arms, legs, and torso. He couldn't feel any breaks, fractures, and nothing that would hamper him.
"I don't think so." he answered. Then, he glanced at the boy. "Yourself?" he asked.
He clutched the right side of his ribs slightly - it was the side he had collided with the brick wall. He hadn't notice because he was preoccupied with the rush of adrenaline, but now that he was calming down, the dull pain surfaced its ugly head.
"Well, I think one of my ribs is out ... but I'll be all right after I rest a bit."
Haku was unconvinced. "It might be fractured. If it keeps up, you should see a doctor." He knew what he was talking about; during missions, he'd taken many kicks to the ribs. More than he'd have liked, really.
He grimaced. "I don't think there are any vets here ... And going to a human doctor would be little strange."
Toboe heaved a small sigh and sat down on a remain of a crumbled building. It was taking a bit to heal ... he hoped it wasn't fractured as the boy had said. Ouch.
"Good point." Haku commented. He was again tempted to ask how the boy became a wolf, but again decided that it wasn't worth it.
"Well, now that we're not fighting for our lives," he went on, his serious face breaking into a friendly smile, "I think it would be nice to introduce ourselves. What do you think?"
"And I say that's a good idea." He laughed brightly before grabbing his side in annoyed manner. Laughing kind of hurt... Jee, he really might have to look for a medical help after all.
"A-anyway! My name is Toboe," he pondered the next option - Tsume did mention that there were no hunters in this world, "I am wolf."
He smiled - perhaps as a sign that he wasn't dangerous or hostile.
Haku smiled back. "A pleasure to meet you, Toboe." he said kindly. "I'm Haku. I'm a ninja."
He figured since the boy had revealed something about himself (that he was not a human who could become a wolf, but a wolf who could become a human), he could reveal something about himself in turn.
"Yes, that's why." Haku confirmed. "We ninja are warriors, trained to be experts in hand-to-hand and weapons combat. We are also taught abilities that control the elements. That was a Fuuton-style technique; a wind technique that allows for teleportation. Quite useful, eh?"
"Yeah, very," A bit of a sad grin appeared on Toboe's mouth, "I feel kind of disappointed though - I don't think I can do those hand seals when I am fighting."
A weak laugh. Although he was talking, he didn't felt like he was talking ... it suddenly felt like the world was spinning around him.
[ooc: I made him sick, and he's going to faint real soon because of that worm's blood he had to intake. So umm, it's your choice as to Haku wants to stay back to help or not. :3]
Haku let out a laugh that was half-guffaw and half-giggle. "Don't feel bad. Only people from my world can do it anyway."
But even as he laughed, he couldn't help feeling slightly concerned. The laugh that the boy let out was very weak. He tilted his head, looking concerned. "Are you sure you're alright?"
Instantly, Haku was alert and slightly alarmed. He was by Toboe's side in an instant. His alarm intensified when he saw the boy's eyes; it was clear from the look in them that he was slowly losing mental coherence. Probably dizzy, too.
A simple hit to the ribs couldn't have done something like this. But what else could it be? What else could have-
The worm. The other monsters. They were otherworldly, unfamiliar, and had a physiology that was unseen by everyone here. And he had munched on them as a wolf. Taken their flesh and blood into his body. Who knew what kind of effects that would have on a person?
"Can you stand?" he asked the boy worriedly. If not, he could carry him. He didn't have the medical skills to help him, but he was sure that someone could.
Haku had shown such concern when he had said that he was ill; he was a good human.
But his legs were too shaky ... as much as he wanted to stand on his own feet, he would have to ask help to stand without wobbling. Toboe sighed and looked a bit shamed, even through his paling skin.
"Sorry, I don't think I can. I am causing too much trouble, aren't I?"
"Not at all." he assured Toboe, smiling reassuringly. But although he was smiling, his thoughts were racing.
He only had a smattering of medical knowledge; not enough to help if things got worse. The only person he knew who could have helped, Naomi Hunter, was gone. Who could he get to help?
"Do you know anyone who could help you? A friend or something?" he asked. It would be good if he could get someone who knew Toboe to help him.

"Hmmm... Afraid I haven't heard of one of those. Oh, is that why you could do that thing where you appeared on the other side of the monster?"
Hey, he's a curious kid. Beef him up with some answers, please?
