Chrona watched the scene from a ways away. Despite having already talked to him before about confronting Medusa, just meeting the God of Death himself out in the open like this seemed strange. (Should he have gone to pick up his Dreamberry for him?)

"S-Shinigami?" he asked, as if it really needed to be verified (who else looked like that, after all?) But it felt like he needed to acknowledge him, even only in passing. Wouldn't it be... uh... rude not to?

"Hmm~?"

Shinigami looked up from retrieving his Dreamberry (this time dropping it safely into the palm of his hand) to see a familiar face.

"Ah, Chrona." He straightened back up to his full height. "Nice day, isn't it? ♪ Sun, breezes~~ ahhh, very relaxing!"

The sun was quite different from the one back at home, but he was getting used to it. Sort of.

"And what are you up to today~?"

His full height was... kind of intimidating. And he hadn't been entirely expecting Shinigami to respond.

"Y-Yeah, I guess so," Chrona replied, "I... It's weird not having anything to do. I was... uh, j-just walking around."

Chrona had little to fear, especially considering the benevolent mood Shinigami was almost always in. And he was definitely in that mood today.

"I certainly agree~" he said amiably. "It's difficult to come into a routine in place like this, where so little matters!

But you could always spend time with the other children!!

I'm sure they'd be quite glad to have something to do~"

Danny happens to be passing nearby when he spots Shinigami and his comparitively tee-tiny dreamberry. When the Grim Reaper drops the little device, it lands near-ish to the boy watching.

Danny moves forward to pick it up for him. "I got it!"

"Many thanks~!" said Death as Danny walked over and dropped the machine into his large waiting hand. The hand then withdrew rather suddenly into his robes for a minute, only to re-emerge without the Dreamberry.

"What a bother, checking that!!" Shinigami lamented almost comically. "It really wasn't made with me in mind~" Not to mention its screen presented problems--which usually consisted of viewers making shocked and/or horrified faces at him.

It was like they'd never seen Death before!

He then dropped the subject without any hesitation. "Now, how have you been lately? ♥ Been awhile since we've seen each other~"

"No problem!" Danny watches the hands withdraw and reappear with a small amount of interest. Sure, he's seen similarly mind-boggling feats of contortion with ghosts, and even done by himself, but it's still cool!

He attempts to keep from showing amusement, and fails. "Yeah, I bet it is..." How does Death reply to dreams and voice messages, anyway? Death changes the subject, though, so Danny goes along with that (and tries to ignore the neverending surrealness that comes from knowing you're having a pleasant conversation with the Grim Reaper himself.)

"Things have actually been a little hectic... They've been good, though. What about you?"

Kid was being, well... Kid. (At least if he came over for a visit, he would be consoled to know his father's whole apartment was creepily symmetrical.) Shinigami hadn't really gone out of his way to meet a lot of new people yet, either. That would come in time.

"I find it very ~strange~ having this surplus of free time. Ahh, I do miss my school~~" He then titled his head to an angle no normal person could, regarding Danny sideways for a moment.

"Though I've heard of some cannibals running around!! Worrisome! That amounted to anything so far?"

They were just regular cannibal-cannibals, not soul-eating ones, so he doubted it was anything he himself (or his techs) would need to chase down. After all, there were bad things in any world--not all of which were destined to be knocked off by Shinigami.

TALL?! Brook is like 8'8" and a half MOTHER FUCKER!

At first Brook was cautiously afraid of the strange figure, but after seeing the big silly hand come out and the Dreamberry slip out of it, it became apparent that he wasn't some evil ghost demon...thing or something just as frightening. He was.... uh. A guy with a big mask and huge fake hand?

"Ah, I believe you dropped this..." He said, casually walking up to the phone and picking it up.

"Excellent~! I'm very appreciative."

The... freaky afro skeleton dropped the Dreamberry into Shinigami's hand, and he closed it around the device before it could attempt another escape. Shinigami was quite interested in this fellow, however. Not only was he not aghast by the sight of Death himself, but he looked almost related.

A cousin, even.

"I must say, you are terribly stylish!! Any particular reason that you happen to be so... skeletal~?"

"Well, I can't say the same goes for me. It wouldn't do for Death to die!" He looked over this new guy--he reminded him of Cid in a weird, weird way. After all, he and Sid were both... dead except not.

"So how do you enjoy being right in the middle~? Ah, of life and death, I mean."

"Not at all~!" Shinigami said, sounding like he was in a particularly good mood after stowing his Dreamberry somewhere inside his haphazard robes. By now, he was getting quite used to the way no one seemed to recognize him. "I am Death. Very good to meet you."

Quote could have wondered what the hell that black blob of whatever with a skull on it was, but the robot was above all that. Several experiences with a giant toaster-slash-suitcase-slash-thing made him stop wondering about that kind of stuff.

All little Quote was concerned about now was picking up the Dreamberry, which he did, and returning it to its owner, which he did by stretching his hand out with a small 'here.'

"Why thank you ♪," said Shinigami, carefully plucking the device from the boy's little hand. Wait. That was funny.

No soul? Ah, so that meant...

"You're quite a clever little machine," he remarked after a moment. "I'm sure people can hardly tell the difference between you and a real child!! Hmm, hmmm~~"

Quote smiled and tipped his cap, instead of replying with the adequate 'you're welcome.'

"...I hav'n't got any ears," he said in response, and pressed his hands on what should have been ears. He pushed with his hands to show that they were, indeed, embedded into his head and not a pair of fancy headphones.

Quote didn't really know why people kept on confusing him with a regular human anymore.

Given all the things he had become accustomed to over the centuries (and the fact that Somarium was filled with a bunch of weirdos), Shinigami could definitely imagine him being mistaken for a real person. The glaring lack of soul was what stopped him from having to look twice, but the lack of ears helped, too, now that the kid had mentioned it.

Still, both of those points were things a regular person probably wouldn't really pick up on.

"And what were you built for~?"
