*Raiden is noticing something strange about the old Madaraki clinic these days.

First and foremost is the obvious lack of Dr. Fran Madaraki herself. He remembers the strange woman as the person who saved his life after his fight with Vamp at Christmastime. He can hardly remember what she did, but he remembers waking up at her clinic nonetheless.

Second is the change of décor. Fran's idea of decorating, as he remembers, is dark and dismal, but that is already changing, and it seems like the red-haired woman he spots through the window is responsible for the changes. Is she another doctor? A different scientist? Is she an associate of Fran's?

Raiden decides the only way to find out is to observe. And so observe, he does.

Dangling upside-down off the clinic roof.

Right outside the waiting room window.

Certainly not the most subtle way of observing someone, but he didn't mind being seen this time around. In fact, he might be interested in asking this woman a question or two...*

*Breathes. He's dumbfounded. He definitely doesn't want to press the issue anymore. Not only did half of what she said fly straight over his head, but there could be the off-chance that she was telling the truth...

Or one of them was just crazy. Highly active imagination and whatnot. Wouldn't be the first time it's happened.

He opts to ask a completely different question altogether.*

What kind of researcher?

I'm more into advancing technology, though I've also made and studied lifeforms before. So you can just imagine what a goldmine this place is in terms of studying new worlds and people~

*He is almost hesitant to ask it of a stranger, but what good is it to hide what she can so plainly see? Smoothly, though he averts his gaze,*

... You're familiar with technology and life forms studied on their own. What do you know about technology and life combined?

You mean like a cyborg like you?

A tricky matter, that's for sure. Of the things I created, I used little creatures called Mass. [nostalgic sigh] That's how I created my daughter~

But I've never made one. Unless you count a spaceship that can turn into a cabbit one.

*Quickly* You won't need to make any. That's already been done.

*All he is looking for is someone to reliably turn to for repairs, but he isn't sure what to think about Washu yet. Instead, he focuses on the one bit of information he can recognize and understand.*

... Did your child make it here with you?

[in an offhand sort of way]

No, but that might be for the best. She'd complain about Tenchi not being here and try to destroy everything.

She can handle herself, just fine though. Ryoko's a big girl though she can be a cutie sometimes~

*What kind of child is she? Raiden figures it's better not to ask.*

... I'll keep an eye out for her.

*Either way, this woman answered the one question he was seeking an answer to. Washu isn't like Dr. Fran Madaraki.*

[glances at him and smiles]

Thank you.

[laptop disappears and she turns to him again]

Is there anything else I can help you with?

No. I already got the answer I was looking for.

*Pauses at the door, glancing back over his shoulder*

If you're looking for laboratory equipment, there are some warehouses near the city center that might have some left intact. Search there first.

Near the center, hm? [and laptop reappears as she pulls up some data, and typing it up]

Thanks for the tip, I'll be sure to look into it.

And if you ever need anything, feel free to stop by.
