Itachi was expecting Jubei, so when the knock came, as muffled as it was, the Uchiha looked up from where he was having green tea on the couch. Hugin and Munin looked upwards as well from their place perched on the couch arm.
"...That must be him." Itachi set the ceramic cup down on the glass coffee table, rising slowly from the black leather couch. He made his way across the wooden floor of the penthouse, pausing by the door. He reached out and opened it, glimpsing towards Jubei.
Well, if anything, he knew for sure now that he wasn't hallucinating the whole 'being saved by a cat' thing.
"Jubei..." Itachi nodded, opening the door for him to come in. The apartment was traditionally decorated, with green plants in the corners. On the walls were a few select paintings of crows and beautiful geisha, as well as mountain landscapes. Hugin and Munin looked over to them from the couch.
The decoration isn't the first thing that catches his eye inside the apartment. Jubei's ears snap forward - he can't help himself. "...Are those birds?"
Hey, come on. He's not a little kitten any more - it's not as though he's going to pounce on them or anything.
...He'd be lying if he said some part of him didn't want to, though.
If he notices the slip up, he doesn't acknowledge it in any way. Jubei's attention is elsewhere, even as he looks back at Itachi and pointedly not at his two house pets. "It's fine. They don't bother me none." As long as they don't make any sudden movements, anyway.

Itachi looked over to Hugin and Munin as they started back to Jubei with red eyes. he closed the door after him.
"Yes. Hugin and Munin." He paused thoughtfully. "...Should I get rid of them, Jubei-san?" Whoops, it slipped.
