It was never surprising to see Leo awake until ungodly hours of the night, completely surrounded by his books. Even when they'd shared the same room, most of the time when Elliot went to bed, which was usually late, Leo had stayed up to read for hours. It was funny to him, because now he had gotten into the habit of reading late as well. He tried not to, especially on work days, but some nights, he just didn't want to deal with what would happen if he slept ( ... )

...honestly, what were the odds?

What where he odds of Elliot being in just the right place at just the right time. (Probably not very low at all, really, but damn it.) Hearing that voice, he flinched and rubbed at his eyes again with his sleeve. No matter how much more open he had gotten with Elliot, there would always be that urge to suppress things, but now...

Now he had no real wish to be honest, either. Not that he ever really did before, but...

He didn't want to put Elliot through anything when it was obvious he was having a rough time right now in general, so. So he tried to force the tears back, with a few deep, shaky breaths and a few shakes of his head.

Go away, stupid memories, go away.

After making sure his hair was covering his eyes, he slowly lowered his arms and turned towards Elliot.

"E-Elliot..."

The odds? They lived in the same house, and had been living in close contact for more then two years. One would think by now that odds had little to do with it, usually. Though, in this case, yes, it was just because they lived in the same place.

Something that Leo might not realize was, Elliot knew him better then he thought. He was starting to understand that when he couldn't see Leo's eyes, that was when Leo was trying to hide his true feelings the most. He was trying to pretend that everything was fine, when it obviously wasn't.

Calmly, Elliot moved into the room, and without asking permission, he sat right next to Leo.

"Ignoring this isn't going to make it go away, Leo."

Like this, Leo pretty much really couldn't see at all. And he kept his gaze on the floor for whatever he did see, so he didn't notice Elliot moving to sit down next to him until he actually was, so close that Leo could feel his warmth.

He swallowed thickly, and there came the guilt for being close to Elliot again. But it wasn't like he could move away even if he wanted to (and he didn't), because that dream... Even if it wasn't true here, it was true, and it made him cold straight through, and... Even if he had seen Elliot, even if he knew he was right there, he still had to reach over the practically non-existent distance between them to put his hand on Elliot's upper arm.

Just to really feel he was there. "..."
