Who: Daniella, Naoto Shirogane, Elena Fisher, Aya Fujimiya Where: Somewhere ominous and scary in Somni City Style: First for speed! Status: Closed Warnings: Murder and Gore
[It just figures they'd forget something. Two blocks from the store and saddled with several bags of groceries, Aya realizes their mistake and worse, she has a massive hankering for custard crepes. Saving it for the next trip simply won't do. She passes off her share of the bags to Ken with a quick apology and turns the corner to run back for the forgotten item. It's already after dark but she isn't planning to stop outside, and she'll only be a few minutes. The warning to not be out alone at night is so far from active consideration as to not even register. After all, technically speaking, she isn't out alone.
[The poor, unsuspecting girl certainly isn't out all alone on this ominous night.
Daniella, her maid uniform and apron drenched in blood by this time after her two previous murders, comes around the corner quite suddenly, weapon in hand.]
[The bloodcurdling scream of fear is more enough to grab the maid's attention, her gray eyes flicking over to Aya before she immediately moves faster to close the distance between them.]
[It's no different than her sixteenth birthday. She sees the oncoming threat-- sees it so well that she can't take her eyes off of it. And her feet just won't move. She manages maybe two steps backwards but for all intents and purposes, Aya is simply petrified.]
[Though used to Miss Fiona standing frozen in shock at Daniella's menacing approaches, most residents of Somarium had attempted to struggle against the woman before finally succumbing in the end. Well, at least Aya wouldn't have to be afraid much longer.] Filthy woman....flesh and blood...and....
[Having taken no time at all to close the distance between them, Daniella abruptly shoves the sharpened weapon in hand into the girl's midsection.] ...Azoth...hehe...hehehe...hahahaha....
[It was difficult to decide which was more terrifying. The cold, giddy giggles spilling from her pale lips or the cruel, dangerous grin spreading from ear-to-ear at the violence in front of her?]
[She tries to scream, but only a choked yelp escapes as the weapon plunges into her body. Her hands instinctively grip the handle and lock up to prevent further movement and thus further damage. Most particularly, to prevent its withdrawal so that it could not be used again.
Strangely, now that she's actually been hurt, Aya's fear is receding as rapidly as it came on. The blood pouring from her wound drenches her hands but she barely notices as her body falls into shock. A sickening numbness spreads through her, overriding the stabbing pulse of pain concentrated in her abdomen.
In the moment before her legs give, she looks up and takes in the sight of twisted glee across Daniella's face. That face carves itself into her memory, though whether she would ever wake again to recall it was, at best, uncertain.]
[He'd rather get teased for being completely paranoid than he would let Aya run off by herself, even if it is only because she forgot the eggs and she'll be back in five minutes. Danger is danger and if girls aren't supposed to be out alone right now, they aren't supposed to be out alone, end of story: it makes no difference if it's for five minutes or five hours. It's not like they haven't taken advantage of brief windows or schedule slips before now, is it? Five minutes, Ken knows damn well, is quite long enough to get unlucky in.
[The only thing that holds him up is trying to find someplace to stick the groceries so people aren't either tripping over them or helping themselves, because there's no way he's running anywhere carrying this lot. Ken settles on stuffing them incompletely into a bush and hoping there's nothing too gross in there before hurrying after Aya - breaking into a run at the sound of a woman's scream
( ... )
[The distraction is just enough to save Aya's life.
While Daniella had planned on thrusting the weapon further into the young girl's body, enough to impale her completely while the life slowly left her, Ken's voice had ripped the maid's attention from the female in front of her to him.
Confusion very briefly flickers over her lovely, but terrifying face before that grin returns.]
Hahaha... [With a quick pull of her arm, Aya is freed from the poker holding her up, likely leaving the girl with no standing support at all.]
[The placement of her hands around the poker's shaft is hardly strong enough to be called a grip; it's easily pulled away. The end rips out at Daniella's yank, drawing out one more strangled cry before Aya collapses. She's almost sure she heard Ken, but his voice, loud and clear as it is in volume, somehow seems distant all the same.
[It feels like a prayer, it probably is a prayer. Five minutes. Five bloody minutes and a box of eggs - that was really all it took.
[But he's not thinking of that any more, he's not thinking anything but get away from Aya!-- there's a madwoman before him with a poker in his hand, there's a girl he once loved and still cares for so much it hurts bleeding out at his feet and with nothing else to hold onto, with the whole situation spiunning crazily lout of control, Ken's running purely on instinct. Just as a paramedic might think to drop to his knees and press his hands over Aya's wound, so Ken thinks of fighting.]
Get away from her!
[Make a noise. Make as much noise as possible
( ... )
[Daniella wobbles unsteadily as Ken yanks her forcefully forward almost off of those tiny feet of hers, taking the full force of the kick aimed to her shin. Her grip on the poker doesn't slacken in the slightest, but at least the distraction attempt has worked. For the moment. The maid's intense, murderous stare is now focused strictly on Ken.
But even in the brief struggle, the eerie giggling spilling from her mouth doesn't stop. No, there isn't even the slightest of pauses, even as she steadies herself and attempts to wrench the poker back from the young man. In fact, if anything, the laughter only intensifies to an entirely new level.
Until, time seems to freeze.
Daniella's gaze has drifted to a nearby window and it seems frozen there, stuck and still as if her power switch had been flipped into 'off' position.
So the maid stands there without movement. Make your attempt to escape now, kids. This won't last long.]
[Ken's seen this before. He wishes he hadn't and it doesn't make it any easier to come face-to-face with here and now - what the Hell did you do to her, you mad bitch?! - but he's seen this before, and the mad laughter and the broken look ion her eyes, and the way she stumbles but doesn't so much as wince, and just like that the entire situation's become... not familiar, not manageable, that wouldn't so much be an exaggeration as a flat-out lie. It's just in context now, and at least he has some idea how to react.
[It might be a mission. Aya might be any of them - Omi, say, or her brother. There's blood on his hands, blood on his clothes, he's furious and he's terrified and he's staring right at her and it's good, it's good that she's after him because at least that means he's not hurting Aya any more--
[Except then she stops, and that's somehow more frightening than anything that's happened so far.
[She just stops. Her eyes fixed on something Ken can't see, her entire body frozen into position, she simply

[As Ken takes the wounded girl off as quickly as possible for help, a chilling, heart wrenching scream fills the alleyway behind him before the shattering of glass.
