Finished.
[Naoto pushed the last of the paperwork to the side, before getting up and leaving the office. The rash of recent crimes hadn't helped the volume of work, and it didn't seem to be letting up soon. In the many hours it took to sort through the paperwork, it had gotten dark, but surely that wouldn't matter.]
[Surely, someone who was armed wouldn't have anything to fear, even on such a dark street, right?]
[Naoto was only half right. Unfortunately though, she wasn't the only armed woman in the streets.
Daniella was shuffling mechanically down the streets, poker in hand as Naoto came into view. The maid pauses in her steps to stare blankly at the teenager, her expression looking much closer to dead than genuine curosity.
Though even in the dim light, Naoto should recognize that the stranger's violet hair matches that which was found on the last crime scene only a week previously.]
[It was dark, and it was quiet. Perhaps it was because of the recent string of murders, but when she heard something shuffling behind her, she instinctively reached for her gun.]
OH THE FAIL OF REPLYING ON TIME.lastyears_modelOctober 6 2011, 19:30:33 UTC
[ Having worked most of the day and failed to turn up any new leads, the reporter found herself heading back toward the apartment she shared with Nathan. The blond had called him much earlier in the evening to tell him that she would be returning late, which seemed to have become quite common with how late she kept finding herself on the streets looking for anything she could put together with the murders happening in the city
( ... )
[It would have been best if Elena had listened to that telling shiver down her spine as she hurried down the darkened sidewalk of Somni City and just turned right around to head on back inside to safety.
Unfortunately for the woman, she must have believed that any real danger was too far away to act so cautiously, but, of course, it was only just around the corner. Only half a block away.
Daniella's approach was swift, spying the blonde woman walking away from just down the street, the maid hissed like a snake poised to strike and immediately came after her. The weapon in her hand was already out and waiting.]
[ Were those footsteps? The blond arched a thin brow and felt her breath catch in her chest, seemingly forgetting to make it's way to her lips as she realized the footsteps were moving a lot more quickly than she was comfortable with. Peering over her shoulder, she caught a glimpse of light on iron of the fire poker. ]
Shit! [ Hand grasping for the gun at her hip, she whirled around on her heel and aimed the gun; unfortunately for herself her aim was incredibly shaky at the moment, completely unlike her usual steadied self when it came to pointing at a target.
Firing the two shots in her gun left her with nothing remaining to toss the woman's way. Finger pressing on the trigger only to hear a 'click' noise that would wind up haunting her, Elena stumbled backward into the nearby alley, glancing to her gun she hurled it to the ground and cursing under her breath, pressed herself to begin running - not that it would lead her anywhere, she was trapping herself and at the moment the blond wasn't realizing it. ]
[It just figures they'd forget something. Two blocks from the store and saddled with several bags of groceries, Aya realizes their mistake and worse, she has a massive hankering for custard crepes. Saving it for the next trip simply won't do. She passes off her share of the bags to Ken with a quick apology and turns the corner to run back for the forgotten item. It's already after dark but she isn't planning to stop outside, and she'll only be a few minutes. The warning to not be out alone at night is so far from active consideration as to not even register. After all, technically speaking, she isn't out alone.
[The poor, unsuspecting girl certainly isn't out all alone on this ominous night.
Daniella, her maid uniform and apron drenched in blood by this time after her two previous murders, comes around the corner quite suddenly, weapon in hand.]
