Fortunately or unfortunately for Cloud, Cid had also gone through the similar motions of grief. Well, a wall or pole may have been punched and Cid had been a lot more vocal. It had, of course, included a nice foray of every curse word in the book (and probably a number of new ones) before he had finally "calmed down."

Cid had seen Cloud at the scene and knew that he of all people was probably hit the hardest. He knew the two were close-how close, he had no idea since his previous stays in Somarium seriously made him wonder. But whatever the case, Cid just left the kid alone. Let him have his time to deal with it. Not like he would have been great "comforting company" anyway. He had been too angry and ready to just find the damn killer himself, police help or not ( ... )

That was how Cid was. Cloud's motions of grief was angsting about how it was his fault (somehow) and ignoring phone calls from his friends. Something most would say is how he typically dealt with anything when it wasn't a force of the supernatural threatening the planet. After that he just secluded himself from the people who could help him, truly that was the healthiest way of dealing with grief in Cloud's eyes.

He hadn't bothered looking up when Cid moved across from him. He wasn't sure that he knew what was happening in the first place. It was just as it was before (without the mental break) when Aerith had first died. He didn't expect her to ever be the first to go among the group of them. Cloud didn't know the logistics of life and death in Somarium; even if he had he probably would take this just as hard as he was now. But without a less permanent look on it as he finally flickered his gaze up at his friend after Cid spoke, finally acknowledging his presence before looking down at the drink he had barely touched. Cid only leaned back against the chair, taking his time with the cigarette that he was currently working on. It wouldn't be too long before he would have to get another one, though.

"Then I'll just install a tracking chip on you."

There was a brief moment of silence before Cid spoke again.

"Ain't your fault, kid."

Cloud hardly bothered with the drink that the bartender had so graciously given him because he looked so glum sitting in the corner. "I think it's been tried before," he paused for a brief moment thinking it over before looking over to his friend. "It didn't work." He shrugged before freezing it seemed when Cid mentioned that little tid bit of information that he kept on trying to remind himself.

"I should have gotten there in time, Cid." She hadn't even been too far from where he was when she died.

"Maybe, maybe not. Hell did you even know she was there? And even if you did, do you carry the giant ass sword of yers everywhere you go?"
