Lockon's sight had slowly begun to come back to him over the past couple of days- things were slightly dimmer than usual and blurry around the edges, but the effects of the concussion were ebbing away. His dead eye remained just that, but with the slowly returning vision came a bit of hope amidst the relative darkness of his week. Tieria Erde had still not returned. In that way, perhaps he wasn't all that grateful to be able to see once more.

He stood up at seeing the familiar form and headed right over. "Allelujah," he said, relieved to see that he looked as though he'd made it through alright.

"There's a lot of them, and only two of us," said Neil thoughtfully. "If they wanted to kill us, they'd have done it already." He shrugged, as though it was no big deal. He was half-convinced that this was a bizarre dream anyway, so there was no way he'd die (and if he did, he'd just wake up like always).

"My name is Neil," he said, smiling kindly. "What's yours?"

Kill them? Eyes wider than they had been a moment before, Allelujah shivered, even though he was actually starting to feel uncomfortably warm in all the things he was wearing.

He didn't think he knew a Neil, but that just meant they'd never been put together before. "Allelujah." After a moment, he added, "It's nice to meet you."

"You, too," said Neil, nodding. The boy was looking a bit nervous, and he hesitated, wondering how to make him feel better about being lost (or kidnapped or whatever). "Don't look so nervous, okay? You'll make me feel nervous." He laughed a little.

Allelujah's face creased slightly, before he forcibly smoothed it out again. "Um. Sorry." It took a bit of effort, because really, he didn't feel very happy right now, but a small smile flickered tentatively into view. "It's just hard to know what we're supposed to be doing here." There were no whitecoats, no other kids, and no memory of an objective.

"I don't think we're supposed to be doing anything," said Neil. He grabbed onto the belt of his pants and slid off the seat, standing up awkwardly. "My clothes don't fit," he mumbled, slightly embarrassed, and began to hastily pull the belt as tight as it would go.

For several moments, all he could do was stare. If they weren't supposed to be doing something, they wouldn't be out here.

Allelujah held his own arms out to the side speculatively, watching the material drape off and over them. "Mine don't either." A quick wriggle had the coat off - the shirt underneath was long on him, only a narrow neck stopping it from trying to slide over his shoulders, but at least that meant it went down to mid-thigh, so he shucked the pants entirely as he hopped off the seat. Something fell off his lap as he did so, and he snatched at it, grabbing it before it could hit the ground.

The boots were way too big, especially if he needed to run at all, and he bundled them along with the pants and coat under the chair. With a faint air of satisfaction, Allelujah straightened. It was cold, but he could move properly again.

Neil blinked at how underdressed the boy was now. Like he was going to go to bed or something. He turned his face, almost embarrassedly. "You look like my little sister in a nightgown," he said. "...I don't mean that in a bad way. My brother makes fun of her for looking like a boy anyway."

He rubbed the back of his neck and stepped out of his own shoes, yanking the annoying oversized socks up. "D'you wanna try to slip out of here?"

"Really?" It didn't seem like it was that much less than usual. And everyone wore the same things anyway.

He fidgeted slightly, fingers interlocking nervously - they hadn't been told to go. But then they hadn't been told to stay, and he still couldn't see any whitecoats, so maybe this was like downtime. (A really strange downtime.) Allelujah stretched himself up on the tips of his toes, looking around the wide room, and pointed. "There's a door over there."

"Okay. C'mon." Neil made no real attempt to be subtle or avoid attention as he marched over to the door, yanking one of them open before looking over his shoulder to make sure Allelujah was following. None of the adults in the room were watching them or coming over to stop them.

He stepped outside and stared at their rather hideous surroundings. The city looked like one of those terrorist-bombed places on TV. "Uh..."

Initial wariness was abandoned in favour of keeping up, and Allelujah scampered after Neil, bare feet whisper-silent on the cold ground. When no one shouted - no one even looked! - the smallest spark of confidence began to grow.

Until he saw outside.

"T-This isn't..." It was all broken; nothing like neat lines and little patches of green, and definitely nothing like rooms and corridors.

Allelujah suddenly squeezed his eyes shut, sucked his lower lip in, and reached. He got...nothing. Lots and lots of nothing. Not even a tiny flutter. He'd thought she was just quiet or busy or sleeping or something, but now he realised he couldn't even feel her anymore. That never happened, not when they were awake. Not when they were inside.

"This isn't the colony." He barely noticed when he bumped against Neil, more intent on backing away from all the things that weren't even a little familiar.

"You live in a colony?" The momentary dismay at the appearance of the city evaporated at the news. Neil's eyebrows lifted critically, and he placed a hand on Allelujah's shoulder both to comfort and distance him from getting too close. "I've never met anyone who lived on a colony before." A thoughtful pause. "...'Cause they were on the colony and not on Earth and all."

This bit of information instilled a touch of doubt in him. Why would someone go to all the trouble to pick out one child from a colony and one from Earth? For whatever purpose? This really must be a dream. But for a dream-character, Allelujah didn't have anything cool like lasers or a sniper rifle mounted to his arms, like Neil's dream-friends usually did.

The hand on his shoulder made him freeze reflexively, before realisation worked its way in and he ducked away again.

"Of course I..." Allelujah paused, and blinked at Neil. "This is Earth?" Despite himself, he glanced back at the scene, curiosity tempered by scepticism. Earth wasn't supposed to look like this, surely.

"...Well, it looks like it," said Neil, slumping slightly. "But only parts of it. If you've never been on Earth, I can pretty much say that it doesn't look like this in most places. Only the war zones." Faint lines of worry appeared on his face. "So we're probably in one. But most of the time the Earth is way... greener."
