and so, with Soul in hand, Maka wielded the large scythe as she hurried down whichever street seemed best to go down, not airborne this time. they had been out for a while already, having to already fend off a few others as they made their way about, but fortunately nothing too harsh. but then, somewhere down a street, Maka's pace suddenly slowed.]
... Huh?
[a particular wavelength hit her-- something that stood out from the hoards of those possessed. it was twisted, sure, but in a much different way; it was one that gave off a particular strong intent for death.]... Hold on, I'm picking up on ( ... )

[... was she even listening?]
Maka.
[WELL. seems the answer to that was pretty clear and it was a resounding "nope!". but it wasn't like she was ignoring him on purpose, she was focusing on whatever this thing was. he could only assume it was a strange group of wavelengths. probably more of the not!zombies.
it wasn't long before he could hear sounds of a struggle and all too soon they came to the source of it. Maka's revulsion was more than apparent and she would surely be able to pick up on his own disgust. this guy... whoever he was... this was sick. This was --

The hell? Maka you know this creep?

Oh hello, Maka! I see you have your friend with you again. At least, I think that's him, unless you found a replacement scythe.
[why yes, he still remembers her odd and interesting friend who could turn into a scythe even after so much time passed. he could easily forget someone, but not anyone who actually interested him.]

[Maka stopped short at Soul's question. yeah, she did, but how could she admit that so freely when he was... slaughtering these people?
a beat, then another, before she decided to forgo answering that question altogether. by the way Ace had greeted them, it was probably all the answer Soul was going to get (and, most likely, needed). Maka gripped the weapon tighter in her hands, before lifting it up more defensively.
just because she was a weapon meister didn't mean she was any less repulsed by the scene. and speaking of that greeting... at that cheerful tone, the one he always bore, Maka grimaced; that... was way too chipper, and far too out of place in a scene like this.
it wasn't like she didn't know about this part of him; oh, Maka knew all right-- experienced it first hand, even-- but even so, that was circumstantial. and after that, all that time ago, he still did tell her he didn't intent on killing any human being here. her frowned deepened, and with a hardened voice she went on:]
What the hell do you think you're ( ... )
