She was calm, unlike a lot of people. They didn't see her confusion or her worries, but they were there, only masked by her soldier face. To be an ideal soldier, she would have to devoid herself of unnecessary emotions. Isn't that what the Majour had told her many times in the past? Even now, she still clung to that ideal image of a perfect soldier. It was complicated for her to be afraid or too worried about her situation
( ... )
Her guns echoed as the fonons exploded out of the barrels and toward the few noctaere that she encountered. There were fewer here than in the city, but that did not mean there weren't any at all.
Quickly, Legretta leaped up to the top of one of the cottages, firing a few more rounds before she continued her run, leaping from one rooftop to another, and then leaping back down.
It was clear, and she could take this moment to take a breath and get her bearings. She was about to turn to go to another direction when a flash of movement caught the corner of her eye.
There was Tear, but she could not see one of the creatures that was slithering from a distance, but within her own range. Without even a thought, she coolly rose her arms and shouted, "Rage Laser!", the beam of fonons hitting the creature and sending it back with a shriek.
The noise caused her to turn around. She was focused on her own thoughts, that she didn't realize that there was something close to her. It was too late to attack it now, but, instead of getting hurt by them, it was sent flying a good ten feet or so by the familiar move that she had remembered.
She quickly turned her head towards the direction it was fired, a faint bit of surprise written on her face. She was prepared to see the majour, but seeing Legretta in the flesh, alive, it was particularly strange and confusing to her. The maiden didn't say anything at first, seeing that she was saved by her former mentor, Tear managed to utter the woman's name aloud, though, in a way, she was somewhat relieved to see the woman.
"Majour Legretta," she mused in an even voice, "Thank you," she added as she approached the woman with an even pace.
Legretta looked at Tear, her face expressionless as it usually was. However, inside her mind several thoughts were still running through it. It was only due to her years and expertise as a soldier that Legretta could control them to her current degree.
After a moment of looking over the young woman, seeing no marks of injury, she slowly walked over to her, eyes never leaving Tear's face.
Where did they stand? What would happen now that they were here? Even Legretta had yet to figure out what to do other than perhaps to continue to pursue the Commandant's plans, to learn anything she could to help aid him were she to return home.
"Tear," she simply said as she was just a few feet away. "I told you to keep your guard up. No matter the circumstances or preoccupations you may have, you must always stay focused in the field of battle."
